Do I need to save a back up for the i3?
If so how do I do it???

If you check out the other threads you will find that this has been tried using a card reader. The problem seems to be that Garmin's transflash cards are specially encoded in some way and so there is no way of reinstalling the backup onto a new card. This is obviously a security measure to stop a black market trade in maps
