I'm nre to the speed camera database so I need a bit of help please.
I'm using TT5 and i have downloaded the database successfully, however the alerts go off even if the camera is pointing in the other direction on the road?
Is there and way of fixing this?

What is the Checkpoint software and does it work with TT5?

Hi sdreiter,

No I’m afraid that there isn’t a way of fixing it. The TomTom Navigator “Proximity Alert” warns you of a POI within a user defined distance, if you approach that POI and come within that predefined distance then you will be alerted regardless of whether the camera is on the same side of the road of if you are doing less than the posted speed limit.

CheckPOInt is a third party add-on for TomTom Navigator 3, it is a POI detector. CheckPOInt has more settings than the standard TTNav 5 proximity alerts and many people prefer CheckPOInt, GPSAssist, POI Warner, etc because of this.

TomTom are developing an SDK for Navigator 5 so that third parties will be able to write add-ons. Once this SDK has been released I would expect Navigator 5 versions of CheckPOInt and others to appear.

Regards,
