I have just shelled out for my new sat nav as my S30 Navman went loopy with its obsession in sending me down unnamed roads. (as well as taking what appeared to be a life time to find position)
So as I'm going to Germany, France ect this year, I shelled out my hard earned money for a TomTom XL LIVE IQ Routes system
Any how, I then noticed down the page (after some remorse)
an "TomTom XL IQ Routes" system
The only difference is the live word, but the specs read the same, Have I been done out of my £20
Thanks All

Welcome to the forum.
If you link to the page it would help...
and can you explain the £20? |

Brief look at TT website shows there is
XL LIVE IQ Routes - Europe
XL LIVE IQ Routes - Regional (i.e. UK)
XL IQ Routes - Regional (i.e. UK)
So it looks like the European model comes with LIVE. |

Having spent some time looking both before and after this post, its looking like The extra I spent goes to cover the price of the subscription to the live service...........
I have asked the retailer (believe it or not, its M&S....but only as I had a £100 gift gift card to use.
Ill update this when it arrives, hopefully with good news.... After my reading on the traffic live system, it doesn't look to hot, but marginally better than whats out there other wise
Thanks for your time! |

It is quite simple, the XL LIVE IQ Routes has LIVE Services as per GO x40 and x50 models (HD Traffic, Weather, Google Search, TT Safety Cams)
The XL IQ Routes doesn't.
You have made a good choice as long as you intend to keep subscribing to the LIVE Services after your 1mth trial period expires.
The 2 most useful Services are the HD Traffic which is improving day by day and the Google Search.
Disable the TT Safety Cameras, they are only on the device for the comedy value of comparing them with the far superior PGPSW Cameras |

You can only buy the XXL IQ Europe device though these days as the XL IQ Europe has gone AWOL, looks like users are being forced to go for the Live devices or the larger screened units at an even higher price tag
XXL IQ Europe £199:99
XL IQ Live Europe £179:99
XL IQ Live Regional £149:99
XL IQ Regional £159:99
I guess the Live devices being cheaper are being sold to entice people to subscribe to the Live services therefore the price structure is somewhat a loss leader, never noticed the XXL IQ on sale in the UK until today though, but then again I don't look every day on the TT web site - Mike |

Halfords still seem to have the XL IQ Routes European for £163.99
I never bother with the TT website either |

I'm sorry I asked such a seemingly daft question but I am still awaiting delivery of my TomTom so I have not yet had chance to play with it.
Normally I would wait until I had had a play but as this post was already active I decided to add my two pennyworth. _________________ David

No worries... They say the only stupid question is the one you didn't think you should ask. |

Sorry
I have a tomtom XL live. I have struggled with the mount every time I use it as the car window is at a fairly acute angle in my coupe.
Today putting it on the windscreen in some what cold conditions the mount sucker side broke in two.
So the circler ring is now detached from the sucker. It snapped in two just after the little ball thats resesed in to the plastic |
