It will be interesting to see if this is a further free update...
Am I right in thinking that no iPhone Nav App provider has yet attempted to charge for an update, and therefore we don't yet have a clear view of anyone's upgrade rules?
TomTom have still failed define their map update policy, yes? (They can't carry on saying they supply the latest data forever, surely?).
AFAIK, we've just had new functionality charged for - for example Co-Pilot's in-app purchase for spoken names and premium features (traffic, fuel prices etc). _________________ iPhone 4/4S (iOS 5.1.1); TomTom Western Europe (1.10)/USA & Canada (1.10); CoPilot for iPhone (8), UK mapping, Mac OS 10.8/XP Pro/Win7; Tongue firmly in cheek! |

Perhaps this update might introduce Traffic data for the UK which I still don't have working from the Navigon application even though I purchased it some time ago!
I hope they don't meddle with it too much though as its not too far from perfect at 1,4 get the UK Traffic resolved and this is still a very capable performer even if it takes quite a while to load up on the 3G (much better on 3GS) - Mike |

This post was on Navigon's Facebook today Quote: | "they (Navigon) advised 10 days ago that currently at testing stage and should be available within two weeks - by Wednesday at this timescale
One of the users did see traffic work on his route for one day and that is when Navigon confirmed this timescale - fingers crossed - not long now!!!!!" | Maybe it'll happen ... _________________ David

Probably waiting for Apple; Navigon on Facebook: Quote: | NAVIGON Now UK Traffic is live for all users which already bought the Traffic Live feature for iPhone EU and all PND (6350 Live /8450 Live) owners. The Inn-App Purchase for the British Isles version is in review by Apple. As soon as it is approved by Apple, UK Traffic will be available also for the British Isles version. |

Ditto. I have picked up some traffic reports on mobile navigator europe but my hopes were dashed as I realised that it was only picking up french reports as it zero'd in on my location. Was nice to see it working though!
Fingers crossed! _________________ Dom

I'd expect any incremental updates to continue to be free but it won't be long before a v2 release of one or another nav app and that I would expect to be chargeable. _________________ Darren Griffin |

The in-app purchase of the traffic app has appeared for the British Isles version of navigon 1.4.1.
It appears to have workng UK traffic data too.
It was 18.49 UKP.
I've not yet used it in anger.

Just checked my 1.4.0 Europe version and I have the same. My desktop test has a selection of nearby traffic warnings. Know what I'll be playing with tonight on the way home.
£18.49 is what I paid for mine all those months ago so no change there, litereally! _________________ Dom

Any idea what the 3 different icons are for traffic incidents along the route?
The first one appears to be a couple of cogs. If you click it, it turns into a bendy line which looks like it might mean 'reroute around incident'. The third one is a staight line which I assume means ignore incident.
I couldn't find it documented anywhere obvious.
Thanks.

I think you are right. The cogs look to suggest there are options available to you so you can then choose to reroute or ignore. While I am limited in what I can see from the demo mode on my desk, I suspect you would get this choice if you were onroute driving towards one of these traffic warnings. _________________ Dom

They posted a link to the/a manual (see p77) over at their Facebook group, which has helped many folks. Not had a chance to try it out yet myself. |

That's strange - the manual is for the 8410 model PNA, so the iPhone app facilities are presumably the same, but the 8410 does NOT have the Live Services Module (except as an extra) I take it though that the iPhone application DOES have the Live Services such as Google 'Local Search', 'Live Traffic' etc (not a lot of point if it doesn't!)?
If that's the case there is another manual on Navigon's website for the Live Services themselves, "NAVIGON 8450 Live". The page to go to for that is Quote: | http://www.navigon.de/portal/int/kundenservice/faq.html?id=10180&content_identifier=faq&page=1&faqTopic=manual | But I guess users might want to confirm with Navigon that that is the right documentation to refer to, if there are any queries. _________________ David
