|
|
Hello,
Tried to pair this wonderful phone with my TT 920, hands free worked great, but data connection didn't. Having read around I see that there is a.cab file available to enable this. Does anyone know if there is a pointer to it, or could anyone help in any other way.
Cheers

It should work, after you installed the cab file by tapping it while using File Explorer on the PDA phone press and hold the power on/ off button until the device puts a warning up about losing data when turing off, just OK this message to reset the phone - you won't lose anything but it does make sure the new DUN Profile is stored correctly.
Is your Tytn-II Orange branded per chance?? - Mike |

Got it from 3, Mike.
It sticks at 40% and only finds the hands free facility on the TyTn II |

As long as the DUN Profile is on the phone (which is what the CAB file has added) then it should work, this could be an issue with the software on the 920, you could try running Navcore 8,301 or even 8,320 on your device and see if that offers better results.
My only other suggestions are to delete the Phone from the TomTom and delete the TomTom from the phone, now try setting it up from scratch, failing this you could flash the phone with a different ROM, but this is a rather drastic move and will void any warranty you have on the handset.
I have had similar in the past when using HTC phones with the TomTom for data connections, a software update can sometimes remove the capability to use the phone to the same leval as was previously possible - Mike |

Once installed is there anything I need to switch on or should it just happen? |

No there is nothing to switch it simply adds the DUN Bluetooth profile to the device which is what the TomTom needs for a data communication via your mobile phone - Mike |

I know this may not be of much help but just to confirm that after Mike had sent me the link to the .cab file earlier last year I followed the instructions, (it did take a couple of attempts) and since that time have had no issues with my HTC TyTn II (a.k.a. Vodafone V 1615). At the time of installation I was using a pre-v8.3 Navcore but it was still working fine after the v8.3 "downgrade" - I had a subscription to GPRS traffic and all was OK (as far as that was concerned) - as for Kate - enuff said!
My HTC also works absolutely fine with my 540 LIVE although I am not using GPRS traffic anymore |

When you say followed the instructions, doesn't the .cab file just install what is required?
Does anyone have any idea what it does install so I can see if they are there and in the right place?
Cheers

I mean that Mike Alder sent it to me and told me to how to unzip, where to put it etc. I can still see the file using the Programs/File Explorer option where it sits as a 60.6k file entitled WM6_BT_DUN |

The reason that HTC do not install the DUN is that they provide an alternative in Internet Connection Sharing where the device appears as a Network Access Point and you connect to that service by USB or Bluetooth and it then connects to the GPRS service. I think that TomTom devices do not understand the Network Access Point service. _________________ Drivelux |
