I have absolutely no idea what to buy my wife for Crimbo this year. She is 39 (she says). Any ideas ? Being sensible is optional. _________________ Tommo...

Ask her. If she says she doesn't know then it means she wants a Playstation 3. _________________ Gone fishing! |

Ask her...
...and when she says "nothing" that's exactly what you give her
...then as New Year comes around, you'll find that she's giving you a divorce
39 you say....mmmmm
You could always buy her this ...then duck and run for cover
I'll save you the trouble of asking for her next birthday - try this book
On a more serious note:
What's your budget?
Whale watching (Comarty, Scotland), £65 - here
Name a star, £19.95 - here
Your 'Last Rolo', £29.99 - here
Flying alarm clock, £19.95 - here
Vince The Luuurve Hamster, £7.99 - here
....and who said romance is dead?
By the way, you forgot to mention what our fee is for being your "personal shopper" _________________ Andy

Something expensive always works well. If she knows you've made an effort like remortgaging the house, and selling a kindney, then you'll be on a promise! _________________ Dom

I know you said being sensible is optional but -
How can you vote when there is nothing between really expensive and cheap and nasty, sensible is missing in the middle!
If i gave my wife nothing and explained that i couldn't afford it she would except it graciously and not hold it against me, however, i do buy her a present.
Does your wife like anything sporty, those day out packages from Smiths are good, a day as a racing driver (like you), bungee jumping, or gliding might go down well and you can always get a free day out yourself away from her while she is doing it. _________________ TomTom Go 60

My wife and I aren't giving each other anything 'big' this year and haven't for the past few years...we have each other, so what else could we possibly need?
...as long as the kids get what they want, that's enough to break the bank these days...not like it was when I was a lad!!
...and we buy each other things during the course of the year _________________ Andy

Fruit in the stocking and ONE main toy.
Today the electrical toys cost a small fortune and what ever you spend there is always a friend with something better.
It surprising the amount some parents spend these days. _________________ TomTom Go 60

You were a spoilt little bratt
It should have been fruit OR toy
Oh, how the other half live
Yes, toys are getting more expensive and some parents don't seem to know when to stop
The Queen's speech at 3pm, Christmas dinner, too much alcohol and really awful jokes in crackers haven't changed though _________________ Andy

Wrong order -
Start Christmas morning with a very expensive vintage port laid down the day before, it makes the boring Christmas dinner look better and then the aweful jokes are hilarious.
Queens speech - you are sad. _________________ TomTom Go 60

No, I'm quite happy actually
The point I was trying to make was that the Queen's speech is still broadcast at 3pm etc etc, so despite Christmas stockings getting fuller and fuller of higher value toys some things about Christmas haven't changed
...except that we might drink more alcohol than we did when WE were kids _________________ Andy
