You can only use the MyTomTom interface to communicate with the device from the PC otherwise it sits hidden away with none of the older options for adding files to the device available to you. This is the main reason I would never recommend one of these newer devices that are dependent upon the crap PC interface softeare, no way to back up the unit or re-install said back up, you are at TomTom beck and call - Mike |

As Mike says, there is no way to access the system other than by MyTomTom, it's locked down pretty well.
However, I wouldn't go so far as Mike does about not recommending any of these models. Basically, if you want a TomTom, you have to learn to live with the new system.
Most of what most people would want to add can now be added simply enough in MyTT.. The lack of backup is a pain, but so far I've not seen many situations that the new emergency recovery schemes built in to MyTomTom can't get you out of.
So... the second part of your question... What did you want to put on the SD card and why?
The way it is organised now is that the SD card really is just treated as an extension to the internal memory, so there's nothing that NEEDS to go in any particular place. Just fill up the internal memory until there's no more room and then it will use the SD card instead. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

I just realy wanted to ad third party POIs like Bridges, would have been handy to add the full truck navcore as im not sure the europe truck map will work with out the navcore part so looks like ive bought the wrong unit saying that I have managed for years with out dedicated truck software
Thanks again Rich |

POIs etc. will go on the unit just fine (either onto the internal memory or an SD card if there's not enough space on internal).
I'm afraid your chances of getting "truck" software onto it are pretty much zero though. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |
