I doubt it's the satellites at fault.

If this were so, then it would hit the global news Exclamation

It’s not just car drivers who rely on GPS.

Airplanes, emergency services and the military to name a few use GPS and if this problem was satellite related it would be a catastrophe Shocked

As I mentioned in an earlier post, my TomTom Home updated my TT910's GPS firmware a few weeks back.

Possibly a glitch in the newer firmware Question

Let’s see what happens Confused

My Ephem Folder is always empty and it has no problem getting a fix and, so far, I've always been correctly located. Smile

Even better when I checked the time sync it was 12 hours behind and still is despite leaving the unit on for a couple of hours.
Sync will only adjust the Minutes, not the Hours, which you have to do to allow for the Time Zone difference.

It might be 12 hours ahead. Wink

My time zone is UK and the time shown on the satellites is the same. Before I had the repair done the time sync was spot on even between am and pm so there does seem to be some issue with it.

It could have easily been changed by an engineer, or the battery disconnected.

Correct the hours now and for the next 3 weeks it will maintain time accuracy. Then it will be out of sync with UTC anyway. Smile

Should he care about being in synch with Université de Technologie de Compiègne? (You're lucky - I was about to roast you for acronyms again, Richard, but fortunately Andy gave me this dinky little website Bookmark that explains them all to me).

There's usually a small backup battery or capacitor to retain settings etc when the main battery goes flat.

It's this which is likely to have been disconnected during the repair, but it might be worth checking that your settings aren't lost when the battery goes flat because if you don't check it soon, they could argue that you're no longer covered by the repair warranty

I would do, but by the time I get home, it's always corrected itself.
What it really needs is a laptop in the car and a quick delete WHILE the problem is happening.

Why not do it before hand. It only uses that Folder as Read Only Data. Without it, it's acquisition of Satellites is as it always has been.

If it's deleted and you still get the problem, then it's not a QuickFix problem.

Well, just to throw my spuds on this fire...

This happened once and once only when i first used the unit for a brief time. Having read through this debate I removed the ability to download the quickfix thing and deleted that file people have been refering too.

Never had a problem since.

This is weird my system is now spot on again, if not more accurate...

I did an update yesterday then took it out and it was accurate within a matter of feet, let alone yards! Shocked

I've also noticed that the number of Mapshare corrections has jumped from the 7,000 range to over 50,000!

It seems things are getting seriously weird on planet Tom Tom. Laughing

I NEARLY did what you suggested that day, but ran out of time so didn't get round to it.
I then drove home and the TT behaved faultlessly, so if I HAD deleted that folder I'd now be convinced that's what had fixed it.... Neutral

You are all wrong! I remember soon after I got my Go original I had this happen once on a motorway. I had a search through old posts and came across this.

All these people did not have Quick fix at the time and most seemed to blame atmospheric conditions.

Sorry I cannot remember how to simplify url's
