Hi
Like many 1st time posters, I have a problem
I have no voice on my TT1. This has happened a few times and I put it down to the level of charge (assuming low charge meant no voice to conserve battery). I hadn't used the TT1 for a long period and guessed it had pretty much lost all its charge.
However, I've now been using it for about a week and so it should be charged. And yet still no voice. I've checked the card and the voice files appear intact, so am at a loss to why they don't work.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Have you tried a Reset?
Have you tried Selecting a voice in Change Preferences? _________________ Richard

The volume is not turned down, or the Sound Muted in Change Preferences? _________________ Richard

Neither, I've checked and double checked.
On reflection, I should add that the voice has kicked back in the last time this happened after about 6 hours use (hence my assump that it was battery related). But as abive, i've been using it for a week now with no joy. |

The sound icon in change preferences has got a Red Cross through it?
When you go to Change Voice are the graphics Black, or Grey? _________________ Richard

I've toggled the sound on and off but that has no effect. As I recall (am sat at my desk ATM) it normally has the option to 'turn off sound' displayed, which, when selected, shows a 'no sound' icon on the route display. This icon is not normally present, so I guess I haven't got the sound switched off.
I have both default UK voices available (US voices 'require installation') and can select either - but 'Test' produces nothing. |

The vif File should look like this, in Notepad.
English(UK) - Tim
data04.chk
Tim
2
0
110
3
How big are the data04 and data05 chk Files? Should be 671KB and 660KB. _________________ Richard

Is it's serial no. E22486H10547 ? if it is it went for repair, then lost in post and then found 4 months later!
I had the same problem with my TT1V2 earlier this year. (Read about it Here). Does this appear to be the same problem?
Sounds to me (no pun intended) that it's time for a repair or take it back for a new one (if your still inside your guarenttee period). I'd insist on the latter.
Good Luck! _________________ TVR

TVR thanks for the link (I had searched but didn't find that thread). Doesn't look good. (BTW you and I share a birthday.)
Oldboy, I shall check as you suggest and get back.
Thanks for your help. |

671 and 660 respectively.
The content of my data 4 file (Tim) was:
English(GB) - Tim
data04.chk
Jane is similar.
I changed it to the settings suggested by oldboy (using notepad, tried ANSI and Unicode formats), but still no joy (ie sounds on, test Tim produces nothing).
Just to confirm, both Tim and Jane are black (others are grey). |

UPDATE: just shot it with 9v instead of 5 (by mistakenly plugging in the wrong adaptor). Result: unit seems to have died. Got a green charge light, but screen won't come on... |
