Does the 2720 support playing mp3 files? If so, it should work (maybe there was a problem with the filenames) - if not, your only option in the short term is that old beta of POI Loader and WAV files. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

The only time I have had spoken warning sounds on my 2720 has been with the Beta version that used wav files , and then only after I had used the remove POIs part first .
So if anyone finds out if the 2720 can use mp3 files let me know as well

I'm not sure you can have them - I believe the Nuvi 2xx series do not support playing mp3 files, which is needed for custom POI alert sounds. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

The Beta POIloader mentioned earlier used .wav files for the voices.

Yes indeed it did, and this could be a suitable short term solution. However, a few Nuvi 200 firmwares down the line, and a few new versions of POI Loader later, and you may hit problems with this untested combination. I suspect Garmin may revive the WAV support in a future POI Loader version, but until then it's best to move on and try to forget what we once had ;) _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

Result? Back to the Bongs! No spoken warnings at all.
Reloaded the WAV files from before with the old Beta version if POI Loader and everything back to normal, speaking again..
So what am I doing wrong - any thoughts would be much appreciated |
My guess is that the 2720, which has no MP3 player capability, unlike the 2820, Zumo and some Nuvis, won't work with MP3. Probably means that you and I are stuck with the 2.4.0 Beta of POI Loader. _________________ Chas

This is indeed correct. The rules of thumb is a unit with mp3 player cabability can play mp3 alerts, other newer units can use the wav alerts (but need the Beta version of POILoader to load the wav alerts), but older units, such as the i3 can't use either..... |
