Hi folks - I am considering purchasing an fm transmitter mount for Go 910. Anyone had any experience of using one? What is sound quality like? Am I wasting my money? Have tried playing Mp3's using the 910 using a friends FM transmitter, but I got a slight high pitched whining from the 910. It must have been the 910 as I tried my friends sony md walkman through the transmitter and it was almost faultless. Any comments/advice gratefully received.
John

John, Welcome to the forum, the FM transmitter mount works fine for me, however if you drive inside the M25 then finding a free radio frequency to tune it to can be very difficult.

The high pitched noice you describe was probably due to "ground Loop" interference, this is a known issue and does affect some cars/ stereo's but not all, help is at hand though because Maplins sell a little box specially made to cure this fault see VW43W
Although you shouldn't need one of these with the FM Mount as there would be no where to plug it in - bear it in mind though if you revert back to a standalone transmitter. - Mike

Hi Mike - thanks for your response. Firstly, and thankfully, I rarely use the M25 as I live up in the Northwest of England. Secondly, and before I actually purchase the 910 transmitter, how far is the transmitter from your car aerial, as someone has told me that these things only transmit a short distance - 2 meters. My car aerial is integrated into one of the rear windows, about 2 meters away- just wondered.

The aerial I use is the one written about in This Write up, it is located on the roof of a Volvo 740 estate at the rear of the vehicle, reception is fine, living in the NW area you won't have problems finding a free frequency to use - I am Fylde based but regulaly drive to and around Manchester etc.
Do you know anyone with an FM transmitter mount to try in your vehicle? - as this would prove the issue one way or the other, where in the NW are you as I could always let you try my FM Mount out in your car? - Mike
