Won't sell me a battery. Said I have to return it to them to be replaced...50 euro's. Complete rip off for a battery that probably costs between £5 and £10. 8O _________________ What car in front???

Well I relly dont see what that has to do with it. But I purchased the TT3 about two years ago. Fact is they won't sell the battery. _________________ What car in front???

You mean a battery for TT bluetooth GPS Mk 1?it is not user-replacable. I think 50 Euros is about right, because they will (probably) arrange collection by DHL, replace the battery and send it back to you. |

No sorry mate, dont go for that. TT has two little screws and after opening it, the battery has a little white connector/plug on it. Doesn't need an electrical engineer to figure that one out...Stinks of monopolisation to me. _________________ What car in front???

Who is stopping you from finding a replacement battery elsewhere then? |

Any chance you can photograph it. I have loads of electronic catalogues with such items in ill take alook to see if its an off the shelf item.
Maybe give us the voltage etc as this might help finding a replacement if an exact match cant be found.
Cheers

yes there are screws, so you can probably get in and replace it if you have the knowledge to do so and access to the proper battery.
it sounds like tomtom is just practicing general protocol for this sort of problem. i know that if I went in and tried to replace the battery on my iPod or the harddrive on my xbox on my own, I'd be out of luck in getting customer service assistance from them on anything else if they could see that it had been opened.
good luck |
