Help I am desperate. I have TTnav 1.21 and a compaq 1paq 3870. When I installed the program on to my PPC, I get the error" Cannot determine location of data. Please reinstall data and /or application". I have installed it normally and also after a hard reset.
The program is installed, but for some reason it cannot execute the program. When I go into file explorer it shows the folowing: Under my device is a folder called TomTom, which has 4 files in it. Then when I open program files there is a folder called Navigator, which seems to have the main program in it. However, when I click on the TT icon I sill get the error. I sent an email to Tom Tom, but I have not had a reply!. Can anyone help and come up with a solution. Maybe the guys at GPS can help.
Many thanks H |

This might sound like a silly question, but have you installed any maps for TTnav to use?

As AndyF has said, that error simply means that you have not installed any maps. Install a map and all will be well again. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I have the GB maps on my SD storage card and the software in the main memory. Should the maps be elsewhere |

That should be fine. How did you install the maps? Can you see a GB Folder on the storage card as TomTom doesn't seem to be able to find it? _________________ Darren Griffin |

That wouldn't be a Sandisk SD card by any chance would it.
There seems to be some problems using SD cards which may involve the need to reformat with a different sector size (see here http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/forum/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=62&TopicID=2189&PagePosition=1).
Sometimes ejecting and then reseating the card (and then doing a soft reset) can make it work (temporarily) - this then does indicate an SD problem

Although an upgrade to 1.52 might help (http://www.tomtom.com/support/ce/support/download_navigator.php)

Many thanks for all your comments. I have managed to get it working. I reinstalled everything on the main memory and the GB map on to the storage card. It all now works
Thanks
