laptop GPS

Given that you had a laptop that wasn't used much, what would you recommend in the way of additional hardware and software to use this laptop as a moble GPS unit ?

If you're looking in-car then I would use Route 66 and a GPS mouse, something like the Holux SuperMouse or Royaltek Sapphire as these come with Serial cable solutions, if you're looking to use it outside (albeit a bit of a large setup), then a CF card + a CF to PCMCIA adapter would suffice.
