|
|
I just bought a GR231 and got it working with my iPaq 4150 and TomTom 3 instantly.
Problem comes when i try to connect the GPS to my laptop PC (XP) with the supplied program GpsView.exe on the PC via bluetooth.
I can find the GPS ok when discovering BT units, also find services and connect with SPP slave. BT on the laptop asks for PIN, i give the PIN 6268 and the laptop tells me all is great and that COM port 8 is to be used if you want to use the device.
When trying to watch the GPS status with GPSview it cannot connect to the GR231. I have tried both with scanning and conneccting directly on COM port 8 with different baud rates (inclunding 38000 that the manual says).
Also the established SPP connection seems to be reset after quite a short while, like a minute.
I want make sure the GR231 connects and transmits data to my laptop before I go and buy software for eg sea navigation.
Any ideas on what can be wrong???? |

You are nearly there. As you have noticed the connection resets itself pretty fast, and doesn't re-establish with traffic.
What you need to do is connect tot he receiver in the BlueTooth manager, and then VERY QUICKLY start your GPSView program. This is how it works on my laptop.
In your programs specify NMEA 38400. _________________ Lutz

I acually did not succeed with GPSview. But I tried Leadtek/WinFast on my PC and got it working with SiRF and NMEA (I think). WinFast automatically hooks up the GR231 via BT.
Thanks |

My COM-port is at 71 and I can't change it. Is there a way to correct this? |
