ok firstly HI to all
i been looking at getting gps for my laptop and basically i need it to be a usb gps bit with some voice software that tells you the road name and other directions with fairly good maps and can be tied into some speed camera software so when your driving it bleeps or warns you when your near a speed camera
are there any about if so how much and where from.
can you get the software and gps unit separate or do they only work with certain units???
any help or links would be much appreciated
cheers in advance! |

What you're asking for here is a tall order, and the PC won't cater for this at present. The Pocket PC will fulfill all of your requirements.
For the PC, you can buy a USB GPS mouse, this would also come with Route 66 included free of charge, but you won't get any speed camera notifications.
Price wise you'll be looking at just over £100 or £90 without software. |

AFAIK there's virtually no product out there with UK maps that will do voice navigation on the PC adequately. CoPilot does have a PC version, but not for the UK.
A cheap way of getting up and running is to purchase a Del Axim X5 (£267) direct from Dell, then purchase the TomTom Navigator complete hardware/software/UK maps at around £280. This will give full voice navigation and interface with our safety camera database. The new version TTN2 will be slightly more expensive. |

yes thats the one i was looking at earlier says it talks but i dont think it does road names and says 98% of uk covered doesnt look bad at all but guess i still cant tie in the speed camera part? never mind gps to start with will do and at that price it isnt bad i dont think unless there are any bad reviews of it out there?
cheers again! |
