So why do TT still force you to buy the TT BT GPS unit when purchasing the software? It seems funny they force you to buy it and then release a patch to say 'well you can now use another unit if you want and let your TT unit gather dust!!!??' |

Hello,
I have downloaded TomTom Mobile for smartphones. It does start, asks me to configure language, voice, etc. But afterthat it cannot find any maps.
Can anybody tell me where the maps need to be and what configuration files I need to edit to make it working ?
Regards,
b00tsie |

You need to purchase TomTom Mobile which comes with a Bluetooth GPS, you cannot just download the TomTom Mobile program and hope to have it running.
When you purchase the TomTom Mobile package you will receive a pre-installed SD card with TomTom Mobile application, UK Maps and a Bluetooth GPS Receiver. |

I appreciate that currently it is not possible to purchase TTM software, but I have challenged TomTom about this situation. If you are an existing TT Navigator user wih BT GPS hardware, and want to run TTM on a SPV C500 you are wasting your money.
You have to repurchase the GPS hardware, the SD card does not fit so you have to purchase a mini SD card at £30, which all seems a little unfair. If TomTom want to discourage software piracy they must change their policy, currently I users have two options to move to TTM, 1. Repurchase all my existing hardware, 2. Find a pirated version on the net neither are ideal? |

Well I tried using the wifes software on my C500 patched it up and cannot seem to get it to work.
Get the Holux linked to the phone but TTM fails to see it.
Seems Ill have to stick to the Axim for a while longer. |

This sounds very promising. I'm just waiting for my C500 to arrive through a very cheap cashback contract deal (from OSPS). |

Go to the TomTom Traffic site, register for Traffic, and then you find the update in the downloads section _________________ Lutz

Ive read all the way through this thread, had my hopes raised - then dashed. Is it actually possible, except for copying the s/ware on to a miniSD, to use TTM straight outta the box with a C500. Noticed comments about BT receivers & not sure whether you can or cannot use the one that comes with it.
Im REALLY wanting TTM and the C500 appeals, I was gonna go Nok 6600 - but not sure.
Replies & advice gratefully welcomed. :D |

I received TomTom Mobile from Amazon yesterday - and can report it DOESN'T work out of the box (apart from copying to a mini-SD card) on a C500!
Basically, it couldn't see the TomTom GPS receiver. Installing the Traffic update fixed it fine though. |
