Just downloaded the database for the first time and also CheckPOI v 3.2.
Fantastic stuff, all working first time and all the local camera's that I know of are there. When I was reading the manual for CheckPOI I saw that it is able to monitor section camera sites, is there a database of section camera's? That would be the icing on the cake.
Keep up the good work.
Regards,
Dave.

Opps, I've just done some more reading and believe that SPECS cameras are "section" camera's. How can I get CheckPOI to use the SPECS data as "section" data.

Hi Jeffers,

Belated Welcome to the forum. Thumbs Up

You’re right; SPECS cameras are “section” cameras.

You’ve probably already worked an answer to your question. Fortunately I don’t have any SPECS camera systems near me or on any of the routes that I use. I believe that our SPECS database just warns you of the location of the cameras and that you have to manually ensure that your average speed between the sets of cameras is not higher than the posted speed limit.

Therefore you load the SPECS database the same way as the GATSO database and set up CheckPOInt to warn you of SPECS as well.

Regards,

Checkpoint alerts you of Specs cameras and will warn you of your speed between sections.

How do you get checkpoint to know they are specs cameras? They just appear as ordinary cameras on my set up.

Thanks for the information. As you say, I had been using the specs database just like the other databases, but wondered if there was any way to get the specs data in a format that checkpoint would recognise as specs cameras and use its average speed calculations facility.

CheckPOInt will only recognise it's own section camera POI database to display the average speed between the cameras. There is no way to manually configure a POI file to be classed as a section camera database (I'm not sure whether any other POI warning apps have this option either)

I will note that the CheckPOInt section camera databases are littered with errors - a single 60mph section camera either side of a 30mph camera, I've seen 2 normal 30mph cameras both listed as section cameras, and as with all CheckPOInt camera databases there are some at obscure speeds (eg 80mph, 90mph, 110mph)...
