I have not had any probelms with my 512Mb Kingston SD card I got from ebuyer. Good price, free delivery (but not lighting fast) and works well.

I have no idea about good brands for PDAs but as a pro photographer I have always used the Lexar CF cards and have had no issues with them and they can be very fast if you dont mind the extra price. Having said that Kingston also have a reasonable reputation in digital camera's hence me getting mine.

There's some advice about potentially troublesome SD cards here.

My two recent SD card purchases have been Lexar 32x. Lexar used to rebadge SD cards from other manufacturers, but seem now to have gone over to a Made in the USA design that they either seem to be making themselves or having made for them. If Lexar stick with this position, at least there should be no risk of card manufacturer changing from batch to batch - many brands switch manufacturer from batch to batch.

I haven't used either of these cards enough to be completely sure that they're OK (I've got a 256MB card on one system, and a 1GB card in my hx4700). However, they seem to work without problems and to be fairly fast.

David

(edited to make it clear that it was SD cards that Lexar used to rebadge - other types of Lexar flash memory are far more likely to be Lexar's own design and may always have been so)

There's so many different brands of SD cards that it's impossible to know who's shipping what. Further, there's far more brands than manufacturers, and many brands change manufacturers from batch to batch.

What's more important is finding out who the manufacturer is - which can only really be done by looking at the styles of markings on the back of the card and comparing them to those that are known to be troublesome. As you don't usually get to do this before purchase, it's really just a case of making sure you can return a defective card.

Crucial products are usually pretty good, but I've no experience of them.

As I said earlier in the thread, a safe option is likely to be buying a Lexar 32x SD card - these cards seem to be either a Lexar in-house design or a design made for Lexar these days (Lexar used to rebrand cards from other manufacturers). The two recently bought Lexar 32x SD cards I have seem fine - one is 1GB, one 256MB.

Lexar 32x are available from ValueFlash - they're who I got my cards from.
