Does anyone know if it is possible to use the GPS receiver with Microsoft Pocket Streets? The com ports available in PS are 3,5 and 9. TomTom GPS is set to use com 8. Is it just a case of changing the com port setting in TomTom GPS?
Any ideas?

You can't change the COM port numbering in TomTom GPS.
Some versions of Pocket Streets are very limited in which COM ports they'll work on - though that doesn't sound like the issue here.
It sounds like the issue may be the interfering Bluetooth driver in many versions of TomTom GPS. To remove this, soft reset the Pocket PC, then go to Start Menu, Settings, System tab, Remove Programs. Tap on "TomTom ~ GPS" and tap Remove. Press OK for a mandatory soft reset.
If you had an interfering Bluetooth driver, this will remove it. If you didn't, you've just removed TomTom GPS (in which case, I suggest you download the latest version from support.tomtom.com and install it - then, if necessary, repeat the 'remove' steps).
If TomTom GPS has installed an interfering Bluetooth driver on your machine you have to go through the 'remove' steps twice to remove TomTom GPS fully.

Great, that did the trick. I can now select COM8 in Pocket Streets 2004.
Many thanks.

It appears that I can have it configured for TomTom or Pocket Streets, not both at the same time. If I remove "TomTom ~ GPS" PS works but then TomTom doesn't and if TomTom works PS doesn't. |

What's happening in TomTom Navigator when you say it's not working?
The first thing to check is whether you've lost the tick (check mark) at the left of the second tab in TomTom GPS.
A further important thing is that without something like GPSgate, only one program can access your GPS at once, and the X button in Pocket PC, by default, minimises rather than closes a program. If, like me, you prefer to close applications instead, software such as Spb Pocket Plus (commercial but inexpensive) will allow you to change the behaviour of the X button.
Make sure that one program that uses your GPS is closed before trying to use the other. TomTom Navigator has an Exit option on the File menu (all screens except Navigator) and the Navigator Menu (Navigator mode).
If TomTom GPS fails to shut down, reset the Pocket PC.

What happens is when I remove the TT gps from programs when you run TT is says GPS is disabled. I can use PS though. I have to re-install TT gps to be able to run TT again. When I do this I am unable to select COM8 for PS so I am back to square one.
It's not a major prolem, I'm off to Spain and unfortunately the 'Major roads of Europe' maps do not include most of the roads I need so I thought at leats with PS I can track where I am.

I'm surprised at that result. Which version of TomTom GPS do you have installed?
There's two options. Uninstall TomTom GPS completely - which will probably take two remove cycles.
Then try either the latest version, 3.07 at the time of writing (which will probably require a single remove to work with Pocket Streets), or try version 2.07, which you should find in our Downloads area.
