Hi
I have TT3 with the standard GB map. I also have the Maps of Western Europe CD's which also comes with a GB map.
After looking at the two 'versions' I see that the GB map on the Europe CD is a) larger in size (100Mb vs 92Mb and b) dated newer (Feb 2004 vs March 2003)
The date could just be to do with the time when the CD's were mastered but the difference in size intriques me.
Does anyone now if the GB map on the Europe CD is more up to date than the one that comes with TT3? I could load up both onto different SD cards and compare them but it may take a while to discover any differences.
Has anyone already done this or specifically know whether the newer and larger map from the Europe CD is in fact more up to date?
Thanks

Install both (to a hard disk folder will do), and look at the .pna file in the map folder.
There will be a three digit number, like 281, probably in the third line of the file. This represents the map version number.

Hi David
Thanks for that. Looked at both files. They are identical with
ID=Great_Britain.PNA
737468658
280
So the same data then. I wonder why the version on the Europe CD is larger?

I'd misremembered that the Navigator 3 maps were 281 - my apologies if they're in fact 280.
Are there the same files in each map? There is a small TMCCache.DAT file that's created by Navigator - possibly only if, like me, you use TomTom Traffic. However, that's only a few KBytes.
It may be interesting to compare the sizes of each file, but I suspect they're the same map data even if the actual files are slightly different.
