From what I recall I think it flashes orange. I'll take a look when I'm in the car tomorrow.

Glad you like it. It's much smaller than other mounts like the ones from Arkon and Seidio and for say a 2210 iPAQ it's size is just about right!

Dave

Thanks for the reply.

You can tell a lot of thought and attention to detail has been given to the design, if I read it correctly it appears you have had some input into the unit from a users point of view. It shows!!

As you say the unit fits the 2210 like a glove with the best bits of Arkon mount and some excellent touches by Holux.

Regards

Keith

Hi all,

We would just like to say a BIG thank you to Dave for the excellent review and thanks to everybody who has bought one of the CR-100's so far.

Just to clarify about the LED's: There are in fact two, one to indicate power, which is green and positioned at the bottom of the CR-100. The other is orange and is positioned on the pull-out twistable antenna - this will flash only when a 3D lock has been attained.

Also, the range of PDA's that are currently supported are:
> HP iPAQ 2210
> XDA, XDA II, MDA, M1000, iMATE
> Palm Tungsten T3
> Dell AXIM X3
> Mitac Mio 528
> HP iPAQ 38xx & 39xx
This can be expanded in the future by changing the bottom connector to suit a different PDA.

Don't forget that if any of you are running PPC 2003SE and your software supports it (Co-Pilot 7 users take note) you can run your PDA in "landscape" mode by twisiting the CR-100 around and rotating the antenna too so that it remains parallel to your dash.

We hope that this has been of help to you and we look forward to being of service to you again in the future.

Best regards,

The HOLUX UK Technical Support Team.

Thanks for the replies.

If anyones thinking about buying one of these just read the review, it says everything you want to know better than I can. For me it's certainly the best system.

Thanks for the review Dave

The Holux CR-100 looks a perfect solution, I have one question though.

How does the integral GPS reciever compare to a Haicom 303s unit ? I am currently using the 303s and am getting an average 10 satelite fix - I like this!

If the integral Holux offers similar performance I think I'll buy one.

Regards

Matt

I have one on order. Can anyone tell me which GPS receiver to select from the drop down list in TomTom - I am presently using the Holux GM210, wil that do?
Also, as the signal comes in at the base (iPAQ 2210) I presume the Com port is Com 1, as it is currently set to

Robin

I have used the holux 210 setting but I tend to use the setting given by Dave which is the NMEA 0183v2 4800 driver COM1.

You will be very pleased, mine has had a bit of use now and it works extremely well.

The CR100 arrived this morning - about 30 hours after ordering it over the internet. First impressions are excellent. The rceiver is more sensitive that my GM210...I used to pick up about 5 satellites in my drive, the CR100 can see 8. Seems well made, just wish I had 3 hands for fitting the PDA in the cradle!

ivstan,

Did you try it personally with the X30? I was hoping to get one of the X3 models for my X30 since Ive heard all X3 accessories work with the X30, Its such a shame if it doesnt work.

Darren.

I'm glad everyone likes the CR-100 as much as the review. It's a good quality cradle, and even weeks after the review I'm still impressed with the cradle!

I am experimenting with my new CR100 (mostly using TomTom). I have tried configuring it for NMEA 0183 v2 4800 and also SIRF 4800 Over the short test run around home I can't see any difference between the two, but can anyone with more knowledge than I have advise which is likely to be the more reliable for general navigation. I have read that SIRF is more sensitive in low reception areas but tends to lag a little when displaying position on the map. I wasn't travelling fast enough to show that effect, but if it is the case, I think I will stay with NMEA
