Number 3 will be tricky - I looked into backlight matters to answer another question in the forums a while back. My reading of the Microsoft documentation is that Pocket PC, and the Windows CE operating system underneath it, doesn't give application software any control over the backlight save for possibly being able to change the "timeout" figures on battery and AC power (over that, there's a little lack of clarity - it may be possible for programs to change these figures using the same registry keys and system event that the Backlight Settings panel uses).

I think it's possible as they're doing it on the SmartPhone versions. It's probably a manual toggle of turn brightness up and then turn it down, but it does work, no reason why it couldn't work on PPC.

1. Slightly higher speech volume (CP5 is an improvement over CP4, but not quite as loud as TTN3

2. Ability to select speeds for different types of road (I think the motorway speed is set to over 70 mph ...my ETA keeps moving back when I am cruising at a gps 70mph on the motorway using cruise control)

3 Improved 3D display

4. The yellow arrow completely obscures detail at roundabouts etc

The ability of TTS to be able to pronounce St. Michaels Grove as Saint Michaels Grove instead of S T Michaels Grove and the same for any other street names that use the abreviation St. for Saint.

My wishlist after using CoPilot Live 5 for a couple of weeks:

1. At all full-size roundabouts, whatever additional guidance is given, the voice instructions should always include "Take the first {second] [third etc.] exit" as required.

2. Offer lane guidance where appropriate.

3. When I am finding a location, skip the country question - I have only UK maps loaded.

4. Get TTS to pronounce St. at the beginning of a street name as "Saint".

5. Have "Speed Limit" available as a display item.

Another for the wishlist...

Ability to fine tune the routing algorithm at the client end by dialling in a percentage preference on:-

- Motorways
- A roads
- B roads
- C roads

4 sliders in all and this would help in users being able to tweak more their own routing algorithms.

Routing including one way streets.

TomTom does this already, but I have noticed that CoPilot seams to ignore this mapping information and tries to send you down the wrong way!!

It's probably an issue with a road or two, or a specific area because CoPilot doesn't try to route me the wrong way down one-way streets.

I was in central london. Around by the Blackwall tunnel.

It looked like these roads had been part of a one way system for a while judging by the state of the signs.

For the US version, when driving off state or interstate highways, signs always clearly indicate an exit number, and not necessarily the trivial road name nor sometimes the first destination and the main destination of the road, which is what Copilot uses for reference.

I would like Copilot to indicate those exit numbers on the map and in driving directions, both written and spoken out!

The absence of this basic information got me in trouble a number of times: once one gets onto the wrong ramp, it is often quite difficult and time consuming to get back on the highway, particularly in urban locations!

A few more CP5 wishes, posted elsewhere but also copied here for completeness:

- Mute function (e.g. when receiving a phone call)
- Brightness control (I'd prefer this on the left-right rocker to day/night)
- If you choose to detour from a planned route, CP5 tries to route you back onto it for too long
- Make the road number legend boxes the same size as the text, or at least position the text in the centre of them
- Waypoints are transferred from PC to PDA as stops rather than waypoints, and have to be converted
- Easier trip transfer to PDA (doing this manually at present)

Thanks
Peter

Ability to fine tune road type choices depending on the context (allow for separate choices for urban environment, where highways avoiding traffic might be preferable or for the countryside where small scenic roads could be the best option...)

The direction arrows are not fully displayed in Next Turn view when approaching a junction in North Up mode; this is particularly noticeable when traveling East or West.

BTW otherwise this is a great view option, which I only recently discovered; the reason I use North Up with it, is that it switches between North Up and Direction Up according to the distance to the next turn and I find this confusing.

Does anyone have a eta on when some of these issues may be resolved, or are we going to have to wait until the next release?

If so do we know when this may be?
