Hi All,

Is there any information to install the PGPSW Camera Database onto the TomTom App Ver 2.6 running on an iPhone 8 - IOS 13.6 ?

I started to look at the very old instructions posted by mikealder but using iMaxing (Diskaid has changed its name) the folder 'Documents' in the TomTom App is 'Locked'

or alternatively is there a way to install the database onto the media center on our 2020 1.8 Toyota Hybrid C-HR?

Many Thanks.

Draysoft.

The latest version of TomTom GO Navigation iOS is currently v2.3. Unfortunately, there's no way of installing PGPSW camera database onto it nor any other custom POIs.

You will need to run PGPSW's CamerAlert in the background for the speed camera database.

If you want to use custom POIs then I recommend that you use POIViewer app.

iMazing is a good tool. However, the above method only worked with the original TomTom iOS app up to and including v1.29.

It is unlikely that your vehicleís built-in navigation system will accept either the PocketGPSWorld camera database or any custom Points of Interest (POIs) because in the last few years motor manufactures have been removing the ability to add custom POIs to their built-in navigation systems.

Have you checked the online manual for the navigation system? Alternatively, you could ask in an online forum for your vehicleís make and model. You need to establish:

  1. Whether you can add custom POIs
  2. If you can add custom POIs, what the file type and format is.
  3. Can you add icons (to show on the map)? If so, the file type.
  4. Whether you can allocate proximity alerts to the POIs and how to do that.
  5. Can you add sound files for Proximity alert warnings and if so the file type?

You may find that itís easier to use a smartphone. As you have an iPhone then you can use the CamerAlert app. If you have an Android then you can use either the CamerAlert app or the SpeedTrap Alert app.

Regards,

Many thanks for your very prompt and comprehensive reply:
Iím it sure where the 2.6 came from as I had written down 2.3.
When you say run ĎPGPSW CamerAlertí that doesnít show on CarPlay so Iím not sure how that would work - I will have another look at that option.
I canít understand why Manufacturers donít allow third party POIís, I donít really want to go back to my trusty old Garmin SatNav.

Exactly the same place as

came from. Either auto correct or typo that failed the proof reading stage. Laughing

The reason is to drastically cut down on the number of peeps calling the garages asking "why doesn't it work". And it's not only the addition of third party POIs. You need proximity alerts as well, else a camera database is as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
