|
|
Over on Pepipoo there is a thread asking about a camera in Derby located here.
Don't think it is a speed camera or part of a set of average speed cameras plus there is also a weird set of four sensors on a pole between the camera and the traffic lights.
Anyone know what this thing is and if the camera and sensors are part of the same thing?
Thanks, Mark

I would think it's a redspeed camera, although I've not seen that type before. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

If you are talking about the one on the yellow pole. It's a SPECS isn't it. It has the 'batman' logo beneath and 'we' have logged them as SPECS in the recent past. |

It's a Vector SR camera. On the yellow pole is a camera plus a 3D tracking radar module. On the grey pole nearer the traffic lights are four infrared illumination modules. It is capable of recording spot speed (not average) across multiple lanes and can catch traffic travelling in both directions, although in this case it is very unlikely to be able to see the traffic on the other side of the central reservation. It can also be used as a red light camera and in this case the lower most IR illuminator is pointing at the junction, presumably to illuminate the rear of vehicles which have jumped the lights.
Effectively it is a modern version of a redspeed camera, recording speed on green + red light offences.
It is made by Jenoptik, the same people that make the Specs average speed cameras, hence the same batman logo and similar appearance. _________________ Paul |

The illuminators are pretty much the same as those along Hastings se front for the SPECS pair there. |

Your supplied Streetview link should help get it verified sooner.
Just a matter of what type is actually is _________________ DashCam:

It might just have been a test site. The Vector SR got it's Home Office Type Approval in April 2019 and the street view images are also dated April 2019. _________________ Paul |
