Hi M8,

You’re running an Android phone aren’t you?

The OP was asking about iOS (iPhone) and Sygic iOS doesn’t accept custom POIs. Wink

OOPs Embarassed
I assumed that Sygic was Sygic. But it seems that is not the case.
I suppose it is Apples lockdown of everything and its dog that prevents it?

No worries. Smile

Possibly, but I think that it's probably more down to the developer blaming iOS as the problem and not actually dealing with the problem. If the developer truly wanted the use of custom POIs then they'd code it. In addition, why use proprietary files for POIs when there are so many industry standards to use such as .csv, .gpx, .kml, even TomTom's own .ov2 is a standard to a limited extent.

Regards,

Good luck with that new version! Wink

I believe that generally, the Android version of TomTom GO has more functionality and has it sooner than the iOS version. However, this is one of the very few times that iOS has beaten Android in TomTom GO.

I think that iOS TomTom GO has had separate map areas since version 2.0 (June 2019). iOS initially had problems updating multiple sub-maps at once - you had to do each one separately to ensure that they worked, else the app crashed during downloads. This has now been fixed.

On subscriptions, I think that the subscriptions are one week, one month, and six months, don't think that you can subscribe for 12 months. Also, I think that prices have slightly increased!

Spoilers:

1. The weekly updates are nothing to get excited about. They may include new speed limits and priorities on existing known roads, but they don't add new roads - these still only get added quarterly.

2. If the Android maps are anything like the iOS ones and you cross borders to other countries in Europe then you must absolutely install all of the maps in "Ferry Connections Europe" i.e.: Ferry Connections Artic; Ferry Connections Europe; Ferry Connections Mediterranean. Yes, it sounds stupid and it is, if you don't you'll get the message "no route possible". The Ferry Connections contain data for ferries, the Channel Tunnel, and some bridges (especially in Denmark). Don't forget to tell your fellow TomTom GO Android users! Thumbs Up

Regards,

I believe they bringing back the 3 year deal on Android version as when raised this with TomTom why some users are able to get 3 year deals, they said a new version is being rolled out to users.

Do you mean the 3 years subscription deal for users who had previously bought the legacy TomTom app?

I originally bought TomTom "UK & Ireland", later I bought TomTom "Europe".

When TomTom GO iOS v1.x was introduced, I had the 3 free years subscription. I didn't realise that as I'd bought a second TomTom app, I could have gotten a second 3 years free subscription, which I think could have been held consecutively. Unfortunately, TomTom stopped giving out the 3 year free subscriptions when GO v2.x iOS was introduced.

Regards,

If you haven't already claimed your 3 years for every TomTom app that you bought, and if it's still possible to do so, then do it now for 3, 6, 9, etc years subscription! Thumbs Up
