As above but the Garmin camera warning comes with just a beep, rather than a nice lady/man telling you all about the camera ahead. (some say 'spoken warnings')

[quote="dales"]There's no need to fret about Kremmen's program - it's bullet proof and easy to use, and hundreds / perhaps thousands of people use it all the time.

There's a comprehensive set-up and use guide in the package.
The program is free, so you could even download it now and check it out
(follow M8TJT's link above and see the Help file, as he said).

The standard Garmin warnings have several defects, which Kremmen's program avoids. In particular the standard Garmin warnings come too early - Kremmen allows you to set your own timings in a flexible way of your own preference.

(PS the PGPSW camera warnings are installed on the Garmin device using PoILoader, whether you use Kremmen's program or not).

Hey Dales. You could of almost popped round from Knaresborough to Otley to show me. Ha ha.

Your encouragement to try again meant I have spent the best part of today reading and trying to follow the user guide of Kremmens.

I have not been able to connect to Garmin as I haven’t yet bought one. However, it looks like my next step as I can’t get Camera Alert to run on my new mini ipad4 which I intended to use for my navigation device in my Motorhome. And, my TT One XL no longer works properly after taking me all round the world over the years.

I managed to get to the final conversion and got the .gpi file in my Garmin Loader folder, but...... I only have two files when I look in the “Check Sub Folders” and the maps are not showing, only picture files and sound files.
I guess until I attach a Garmin unit I won’t know if I have done it properly. .

I could attach a picture to show you but can’t find the attach picture option.

If you follow the manual instructions step by step you shouldn't have any problems.

The manual was QA'd and rewritten then QA'd again as some elements were out of order.

If you do have any queries then post here. There's always someone on hand to help.

Thanks. Everything went as per guide and I thought I'd cracked it, until I got to the bit about checking the Sub Folder and there were no maps in it (either csv or gpx).

I have managed to produce a .gpi file in the POILoader folder, but I'm not sure if I have done it all OK due to the missing (should it be there??) map file in the Check Sub Folder. There is just sound and picture file listed, not three.

If you have the .BMP and . WAV then they are the basics.

The .CSV files come from the downloaded zip file from here.

Once you open the Converter the top left menu dropdown has numerous options.

First one downloads the correct file from here, then the bold option unzips it into the various CSV files.
Once that's done, the 'Process' button converts the CSV's into GPX's.

Once that's complete tben POILoader losds 5nem onto the Garmin.

NB once you've downloaded the correct PGPSW file, you will need to manually save it into your Working Folder, before using the Kremmen program to unzip it.

Dales.

CSV nd GPX files are NOT maps.
What 'maps' exactly are you expecting to be there?

Apologies, I meant speed camera location files.

I followed the guide to the letter and everything seemed to work as it should.

Its just that when I got to page 59 of the guide - Sub Folders Check, and then moved onto to page 60, it shows three lines Icons, CSV Converter_files and Sound files on a green background..

Mine only show two on a green background - Icons and Sound files.

My query is, should I also have the CSV Converter_files showing as on the guide - does the fact that they are not showing mean it hasn't worked properly?

I ask because the guide mentions this process checks to see if any suspect cameras.

As I say, until I buy a Garmin, I wont be able to test the conversion and see if the camera points are as they should be.

BTW - for those interested, I have another thread on my mini ipad 4 crashing and not loading Camera Alert (Garmin is a contingency purchase if CA is not good enough with Google Maps in my Motorhome).

I deleted the CA App (yet again), and reinstalled it - and hey bingo, it now works. Very strange.

So I will put Garmin on the back burner for now.

As M8 mentioned, the CSV files go into thexsame folder as the bmp and wav files.

They get there by you unzipping the file from here, using the CSV unzip routine.

Then once you have 3 green fields you're good to go.
