Where from? I ordered one a fortnight ago on Amazon and seller cancelled it because they felt the stock item (only one) had a dodgy battery. I didn't fancy the e-bay adverts.

I bought mine from ebay.
As long as you check out the sellers rating and buy it through PayPal with a credit card you'll be fine.
The batteries are easy to replace if faulty, but if it's been used regularly the battery should still be in pretty good shape.
My 910's still have all their original batteries.
There are lots of YouTube videos that show you how to dismantle and change the batteries.

I don't do e-bay and I don't do PayPal and I had a letter two months ago saying that as I hadn't used my credit card for many months, they were cancelling it.

The batteries are easy to replace if you use MikeAlder (I did). Not that I care because my TT is always plugged into the ciggy thing.

I've noticed since the WNRO the demand for X40 and X50 models has risen dramatically.
CEX appears to have the 540, 740, 550 & 750 models available.

Interesting if you diddle Navcore v9.541 into an x10 or an original TomTom One 1st Edition (both of which use the SiRFstarIII GPS chip) the satellite lock issue disappears and they appear to work perfectly.
This demonstrates that it’s an issue with the Navcore and not the SiRFstarIII GPS receiver hardware/firmware... which could be easily fixed if TomTom gave a toss.

They are starting to send out emails with the message...

"Due to the GPS Week Number Rollover (WNRO) that occurred on 6 April 2019, your navigation device will no longer be able to navigate.

We are working to see if an update is possible and will contact you when there is news."

Do you get that email after your satnav has navigated you to the end of the earth?

I received the e-mail last week... I doubt very much they'll do anything to fix the issue... they're just fishing for sales.
I received my 940 this morning... it's a great device and a worthy replacement for my 910s.
It's such a shame that TomTom decided to only manufacture cheap featureless units that Google Maps on your phone will do for free.

I've refrained from using a phone for heavy duty navigation tasks.

I did try it some years ago and the heat build up and battery life suffered. I remember taking it out of its car holder and putting in my top pocket and having to immediately take it out as it felt like it was burning me.

Okay... after reading some articles and running a few test of my own, here’s my take on why different legacy TomTom devices are having differing issues after the WNRO.
The problems reported range from the clock reading 00:00, issues locking onto satellites and/or locking on to any satellites at all.

1) The x10 range, TomTom ONE 1st edition and others use the SiRFstarIII (SiRF Technology ) microprocessor GPS chip.
This chip does not have an issue with the WNRO and outputs the data string as an NMEA string.
The problem lies in the Navcore software not being able to correctly interpret the NMEA string since the WNRO change.
The could be easily resolved by TomTom if the Navcore were tweaked accordingly.

2) Other older TomTom devices use the GL1 and GL2 (Global Locate now Broadcom) microprocessor GPS chip and possibly others.
Unfortunately these GPS chips do have a problem with the WNRO and do not output an NMEA string.
As the issue with these devices lie with the GPS receiver’s firmware/hardware it’s very doubtful whether this is will be resolved.

After successfully running a modded 9.541 Navcore on my old TomToms with SiRFstarIII GPS receivers proves that there is no issue with the SiRFstarIII GPS hardware and TomTom could resolve the issue quite easily.
On newer Navcore devices just replacing the GLGPS file with one included in the official 9.541 Navcore resolves the issue.

If TomTom are unwilling to fix the issue I’m sure a cunning monkey somewhere with the appropriate programming skills will modify the problematic Navcores.
Global Locate powered devices will most likely remain bricked.
