Dennis, I would think that just using Finder instead of Windows Explorer and using Mac's version of a text editor would do the job. _________________ David |

Yes indeed it will, David. Text editor is fine, but I can't find this file with Finder
Navigate to: C:\Program Files\TomTom HOME 2\xul
Using Notepad, Wordpad or another text editor, edit the file in xul called application.ini _________________ Dennis

On a MAC, navigate to :
Users/USERNAME/Library/Application Support/TomTom
There should be a HOME directory of some sort in there and I suspect the file you are looking for will be somewhere in that area.

That doesn't work for me either, I'm afraid. I have....
Users/myname/ - nothing in there about library, only the folders I've created myself.
Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Adobe and that's all that's in there. _________________ Dennis

Like Windows, do you have a "show hidden files & folders" option? |

Sounds a bit like a permissions thing.
Open System Preferences, select Users and Groups and it should give a list of the users and their Role.
In my case my username is set with the Admin role, so if your username isn't set to Admin role then you will probably need to login using one of the Admin accounts.

Well, some progress - nottalot, but some!
I was already Administrator.
By pure chance, I clicked on summat and it offered "Show Library", so I did and it did.
So.... Users/USERNAME/Library/Application Support/TomTom
OK. In that I have two folders, HOME3 and MyDrive Connect
In HOME3, there are two .ini files
cookies.ini - to my ignorant brain, contents are referring to cookies.
prefs.ini - One of the many lines reads "Name=TomTom MyDrive Connect support application", so I can't think it has anything to do with Home.
The MyDrive Connect folder contains nothing relating .ini.
Still flopping around all over the place, I have another folder under Apoplication Support called TomTom HOME
So I have /tomtom Home/Profiles/r8x2yesv.default/compatibility.ini which reads.....
[Compatibility]
LastVersion=2.10.3.700_8122017_1406/20090605134702
LastOSABI=Darwin_x86-gcc3
LastPlatformDir=/Applications/TomTom HOME.app/Contents/Frameworks/XUL.framework
LastAppDir=/Applications/TomTom HOME.app/Contents/Resources
What does anybody think about this being the one to alter?
My current inclination is to download (and install?) the version linked above, then, without opening it, to look at the compatibility.ini file above to see if it has changed. _________________ Dennis

Dennis,, I know nowt about Mac's at all (except to wear them when its raining .. ) but the instructions for windows say
After running the *.exe to install the version of TTHome, do NOT run it.
Navigate to: C:\Program Files\TomTom HOME 2\xul
Using Notepad, Wordpad or another text editor, edit the file in xul called application.ini as follows:
In the line which reads 'Version=2.X.X.XXXX' (matching the version you have just installed), modify the number to read '3.x.x.xxxx' (I left the other numbers, just changed the leading one to "3". Once saved just run TTHome as usual, it will all work just fine
I guess the same would apply to Mac OS except that, as you've found, the file location is different ...., also .. I have no such file as "compatability.ini" anywhere in windows ...... |

Thank you. My concern is that the compatibility file I found may just be an information file, not the true configuration file and editing it may do nothing useful. I shall try it if nobody else come on with true knowledge before the next occasion I have time available to mess around with it.
PS What I know about Macs is also nowt, except that they just work and don't fall over like the windoze stuff which plagued me for more than 20 years until I got the sense to switch over. _________________ Dennis
