|
|
I'm just in the process of ordering a new 2016 Suzuki Vitara SZ5 with built in sat nav. From a hour test drive it is evident that the sat nav does not have a built in speed camera alert. I was just wondering if the PocketGPSWorlds speed camera database would be compatable and if so which database would i install to put speed camera on the built in sat nav.
Thanks for reading and your askers/help is very much appreciated.
Thanks |

Not a Vitara driver so can't give a definite answer for you.
From other similar posts on the forums about 'in car' satnav systems,, there aqre a couple of things you need to find out from Suzuki.
What is the exact model of the satnav in your car, they change from model to model even within the same car maker.
And, does the satnav accept 3rd party POIs, and if so, how do you applyy them.
Do a search of these forums some / all of the answers may be here.
I drive and Audi, Vauxhall befotre that and just couldn't be bothered with the in car system for PGPSW, just used my phone, easier to keep updated as well.
Just my 2 bobs worth. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply 253.
I have taken your information on board and this the information that I have got back is it is a Bosch SLDA system with open source software it looks like it accepts .csv files.
This is the official site. http://www.suzuki-slda.com/ POI information is found in the user manual on pages 52/53
Does it sound like I should be able to use the Camera database?
Thanks[/img] |

Seems like it. You can also set up warnings, so it would appear that it's OK to give warnings for the cams, but there isn't much of a clue as to the distance, |

Ok I may be being thick, but I have had the day off so I have been try to get pocketsgps data base to work all day on my New Suzuki Vitara S but I'm still coming up blank.
I have followed all the online info on http://www.suzuki-slda.com/SitePages/Home_Suzuki.aspx
down loaded the .csv info off the poscketgps site, put the files in a file call myPOIs(as suggested on the site) and then renamed all the .csv files with myPOIWarnings_.......csv (as suggested on the site) but no sure luck.
Does ANYONE have any helpful ideas?
Thanks taff_x |

Just a thought, since nobody else is chipping in yet. This may not work, but it's well worth a long shot. (This following method of having matching pairs of .csv's and .bmp's is how all Garmin pnd's work). It cannot harm anything.
If there is nothing on your screen for the PGPSW cameras, then the system seems to be short of an appropriate icon to display.
[However the manual does say that, if set to On, "the system issues the point of interest warning by displaying a symbol".
Do you not get this symbol? You will have set this warning to On, yes?].
The Suzi has a list of built-in icon symbols at para 14 of the manual, but none of these is for Custom POIs. Presumably users are expected to supply their own icons for these, so as to make them display on the screen.
Alongside your csv's, you might try loading up the PGPSW .bmp files that should have come with your download. These are the icons associated with Gatso, Mobile etc. You will need to rename these exactly as you renamed the camera csv files. You will have matching pairs of .csv's and .bmp's, identically named apart from the extension.
This just might work - it is always a process of experimentation with factory-fit systems.

This is the issue I'm trying to deal with. The distributor I bought the car from knows nothing about computers so hasn't been able to advise me. Looking at all the available programmes on the speedbase page, Demon 2 seems the closest. After downloading it onto my computer to transfer, it states that there is no sound files attached, so that will be no good.
If you succeed, please let me know how. |

The only thing I have come up with is download the detonator 3 (.csv file), the single file with all cameras.
With that file I unzip it to a folder called MYPOIs and the .csv file that is put in there i rename myPOIWarnings.csv, I then delete any other files that are transferred to the folder I then delete.
This folder I then copy on to a USB stick which i use to transfer the folder to headhunt.
I hope this helps. |

Yes I have looked at that file, but, according to the instructions, there are no sound files attached. |

Just wondering if you had any success with this. I am trying to do the same thing with mixed success.
I have downloaded the csv and can see a list of camera sites using the myPOIs nearby option.
On two occasions after loading the file I got a message and an icon of a camera on the map but these disappeared when I restarted the engine.
I don't know where the camera icon came from though I called my file myPOIWarnings_Cameras.csv and put the file in a folder named Cameras which was a sub-folder of myPOIs.
Interestingly someone in France has put something on Youtube showing the system working though he does say that he has to reload the file every time he starts the engine. It is in French but worth a look at the video - site is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3al6w30Ecnw |
