No problem updating, well under the 1hr 37min predicted. Express reported AOK.
Restarted the 3598 and just shows Loading Maps - won't run, won't close, won't do anything. |

That points to a corrupt map.
Did you do a safe eject? Just because Express says it's complete it doesn't mean your Windows machine has finished sending the data.
I'd reconnect, run Express and do a map reinstall. When finished do a safe eject. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I can't remember when the last time was I did what Windows calls a safe eject on a USB device.
I just unplug them when reading writing is finished and never had a problem. I think Windows, by default, now allows this. _________________ Satnav:

Well yes you'd hope so but Garmin still recommend a safe eject even though the new devices are mtp mode devices and theoretically don't need safe ejecting, in fact I don't believe windows has a safe eject option for mtp devices. However at one point on the Garmin forums one Garmin rep was suggesting you should leave mtp devices connected for 30 minutes (!) just to be sure. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Further to the lock up I held the power button for more than 3 and less than 10 seconds and it powered down. I powered up and again it locked with loading maps. I kept fiddling like that when it decided to play and accurately reported the 2017 map update.
Now AOK. |
