blocked Advice, a basic or bells and whistles model?

I use the GPS I currently have for driving but it's a no frills model and I wonder just what sort of device I should aim for.
Looking through a Which? magazine I came across a review of Garmin satnavs and the top mark was given to the Garmin 2699 LMT-D.
However, it said, "Cons, it lacks Garmin's premium "real directions". So, is this a good device to buy or should I aim a little higher?

I wouldn't worry about Garmin real directions, but in any case according to the specs it has them

Agree fully

If your happy with a 6" unit, especially if you have to carry it around frequently. I went for the smaller 2599 which is exactly the same but smaller at 5".

Sussamb. “in any case according to the specs it has them.” Just goes to show that I should checked the specs properly but the problem is I’m not even sure what I should aim for although I am addicted to gadgets. I know very little about things such as advance warnings of traffic jams, if they trigger an alternative route and what the cost factor is although as I write this I recognise I could check.

These latest units have a glass screen and I find voice control keeps it free from fingerprints.

The 2597, being a matt screen, showed no fingerprints and can be angled as you like. The glass screens I find have to be angled just so or you get glare from the windows. I've got mine angled so if it was a mirror, which it almost is, I'm looking at the centre of the headlining.

Voice control? I allready have to put up with my wife arguing with our current GPS so I'm not sure if the poor old GPSA could put up with two of us questioning its fallibility.
Joking aside, my wife does the navigating primarily because I am very hard of hearing and I am unable to hear what the GPS says. I wonder if a facility exists for the Induction loop facility of my hearing aid to be connected to a GPS.
When I use the induction loop facility with a TV it is superb because it puts the sound straight into the ear.

Afraid that capability doesn't exist. As for your earlier comment, those with traffic alerts can be set to automatically re-route or to offer the user the choice. I prefer to have some control so don't have mine automatically re-route.
