|
|
Hi all, I have an old Motolux phone permanently installed in my car running Auto Boy dashcam which starts and shuts down when the phone detects usb charge, on and off ie with ign.
I have tried to set Camera alert to do the same by using the detect car dock, but this does not work... can anyone suggest how to get this feature to work?
many thanks |

Different unit but my HTC car dock will activate the phone, and fire up Cameralert, even when the other USB end isn't plugged in.
It's possible that it needs a unique dock to work like the HTC and not just a USB power connection. _________________ DashCam:

I dont understand what a car dock does to the phone oter than powering it and off, and possibly some connecting to an external aerial.....
I would have thought that power being on or off, ie charging would be the trigger... as the other app that i use has and they call it car dock too....
If it doesn't then It would be a good development to improve flexibility, because I don't want a great big docking station blocking my windscreen..... |

It has to be that the dock USB lead has some bespoke wiring that tells the phone it's a 'dock'. _________________ DashCam:

I used to trick my old Motorola phone into Car mode or Desk mode by placing a weak fridge magnet in different positions around the case. From memory, near the USB port for Car mode and near the volume switches for Desk mode.
I think the official (Motorola) cradles had a magnet embedded within them.
Does your phone use the same method?
ETA, I've just remembered. the polarity of the magnet also made a difference. +ve triggered one action, -ve another. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Thanks guys, but the solution re magnets is a no go as the phone stays in the cradle all the time....
The auto Boy Dash Cam does switch on and off with usb connect / disconnect or just charging on / off... and they call it card dock so I'm assuming that they have developed it further than camera alert....
Its such a shame that you cant send a support issue with them unless its to do with the account, so it looks like I'll have to find another app.. |

From memory doesn't Cameralert have 2 separate activations :
Car Dock Mode and Car Mode
Do neither work ? _________________ DashCam:

I use "Trigger" to run CA when my phone connects to the car BT, but I still have to close CA manually as there doesn't seem to be any way to program Stop. _________________ Galaxy Note 4 / TomTom GO : CamerAlert : CoPilot |
