Just over a year ago I bought my first Garmin sat nav a DEZL 760 having previously having Tom tom devices.
Everything was great until I had to buy a new laptop with windows 8.1 and for some reason I couldn't get the lap top to recognize the DEZL.
Long story, short I'd been apprehensive at pushing the short Maplin USB cable into the base position in the base of the device, Do'h
Have now connected and Garmin Express shows device connected. On hitting updates button message first said down load time 1hr 15min that changed a couple of minuets later to 10hrs and a few more minutes later that had gone up to 20 hours 5min.
I left ALL running and 'downloading' last night and on getting up the Express said it was still downloading Estimated Time 1hour 20 minuets, but a couple of hours later it still says 1hr 20min
I carried out the same procedure yesterday and the same happened so I logged out thinking something had frozen up, did I do right?
Oh I've still left it 'running' pending any advice from this forum.
cheers Mick |

Ok,its now been 9 hours since my OP and it is still saying 1hr 20min remaining, we are on a site with free wifi so could the slow download speed be the problem? |

I know nothing about the nuvi but in the position you desribe I'd be inclined to disconnect everything, switch off everything let things settle down and try again later.
It isn't doing anything and requires, in my opinion, a kick up the Jacksy. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Certainly could be, Express requires 'high speed internet access'.
As Ali says, disconnect and retry ... also ensure your PC doesn't go to sleep or switch off USB ports while left unattended. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Hi Guy's, switched off for several hours both the lap top and Garmin and the tried again from last night, been out all day got back to see estimated time remaining still 1hr - 20min
Also checked that the device as enough memory space and on clicking on the properties for my dezl 760 it says,
Internal Storage 773MB free of 7.02 GB.
Memory Card 7.39 GB free of 7.39GB.
So they 'problem' may be our sites wifi speed?

That's very slow which would explain why you're having problems. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |
