|
|
I've just got Nuvi 2599 and tried installing the Speed Cams onto it but they're not showing.
Ive used the latest POILoader (2.7.3) and loaded them onto the old Nuvi (310) and the New Nuvi.
On the old Nuvi scrolling the map to a nearby speed cam and there is the icon.
On the new Nuvi theres no sign of it.
Does anyone know if this trick works 2599 and therefore something is definately wrong.
The .gpi file (Pgps.gpi in my case) is there in the POI folder on the 2599.
I've got show POI's ticked on the new unit.
Any ideas what might be wrong anyone? |

Garmin continually change how POIs are displayed. You may need to zoom in more to see them. Also power cycle your nuvi which may help. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Thanks for the reply. I've rebooted and zoomed into the max but no sign of 'em. |

I've got a 2599 and they work so it's not an incompatibility issue.
You probably already know, as they work on your old unit, but check if you have the POILoader created .gpi file in the devices POI folder (if you have PC access).
Then make sure you have them ticked in the menu. _________________ Satnav:

Hi there Kremmen (I was a sort of tester for you when you were first deveoping your converter all that time ago.)
Yep as I said in the first post the .gpi file is there and the POI option ticked so I'm quite puzzled. As you have the same unit can you scroll the map to where you know there is a cam, zoom in and see it.
I was wondering if the newer units behave diffeerently - perhaps the real time coordinates have to be close to whats being viewed on the map for it to display them. |

It also works for me, I just drop the .gpi file into the POI file on my 2508. Why yours isn't working with what you say you've done/checked I don't know ... _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

To check my cameras I set it to 'GPS simulator' mode and plot a route via known camera locations.
Are the audible camera warnings there but no icon? The above will reveal that. If so then it's having issues matching the filenames.
If you have my program then that shows that issue as the icon box will be pink, not green.
I posted a screenshot a few days ago of my icons and banner warnings in another thread. I'm on an awkward tablet so a link is impossible to that thread. See if you can find it. If not I'll have PC access in the morning. _________________ Satnav:

Just been out for for a drive and the cameras are there. Guess that the new unit only draws them on the display when location is close whereas old nuvi draws them regardless.
I did notice that the gatsos put up a banner at the top but a redlight did not. Is that what you get Kremmen. |

Now you know they're there have another look now you're back and see if they then show. You may find they now do. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I understand what you mean now. I think mine is probably the same. Not something I've noticed as they popup when needed.
Surprised you went out specially to check it. I'll do a simulator route later to check the redlight warning.
I do get the RedLight warning banner as well:

Mmm thanks for the pic. I'll have to recheck on another light or two.
(No it wasn't a special trip just to just to check that, just taking the wife to her choir night. However I have to admit that when something isn't working I'm fairly driven to fix it asap - might be something to do with being a software engineer for 35 years perhaps.) |

Yes it does seem to go with the teritory. I retire (late) in April but have been on a nice only 3 days a week wind down for the year at full salary
Its what I'm going to keep my mind occupied with that worries me a bit. |
