Hi All, not very good with tec stuff. Is there a system that I could use to help me with a 7 page road gritting route which has about 100 roads? Is there a sav nav that I could set up to do the route? Many Thanks lcs |

Yes, quite a few ... but don't the company you work for supply you with details/satnav?
You might find this will give you some idea of the problems/solutions ... as this discusses a similar problem for snow clearing

I can't believe I'm reading this! Back in the days when I had it to organise, we used drivers who knew the roads. Winter Maintenance is not for the amateur driver. And the pros used to go out on dummy runs before winter to make sure they knew where they would be going (and that the gritter could negotiate the route). And there would be nights when we only did partial runs, a preplanned route does nothing with that.
This sounds like another of those privatised sub-contract driver things, not the local roadworkers. I wonder what sussamb thinks of agency hired ambulance drivers? _________________ Dennis

Cheapies from ebay like this one or this one from Amazon tend to run a version of iGO. You can add lots of what they call 'VIAs' (way points by another name). You can add them in any order and then sort them into the most logical/shortest route. I havn't found a limit yet, but have added more than twenty to see if there was a low limit. |
