The app, ViewRanger Outdoors GPS & Maps, is a free download and comes with unlimited access to mapping from OpenStreetMap, OpenCycleMap and Bing Ariel imagery. Maps can be downloaded to your Kindle Fire for use as and when required.
If you need more detailed mapping, you can purchase high revolution topographic mapping from Ordnance Survey, and other national agencies, licensed mapping for 22 countries world-wide is available including the USA, Canada, New Zealand and most European countries.
An extensive library of trails is also available with recommended routes from local experts and tourism organisations plus the ViewRanger community and a companion desktop website, MyViewRanger.com allows easy plotting of routes etc.
