|
|
Just downloaded the Be-On-Road sat-nav app on my samsung galaxy phone. The app works ok, but the speed cams are a chargeable extra which are purchased through the app. Is it possible to use the PGPSW camera database. I've no idea what sort of files it uses or where to install to if it is at all possible. Any help would be appreciated. |

I would like to use the cameralert app, but cameralert doesn't support samsung Bada OS. Looks like i'm probably stuffed. I'll have to keep lugging the Tomtom around with me unless someone knows if it is possible to load PGPSW camera data into Be-On-Road. (or if PGPSW fancy releasing cameralert for samsung Bada OS ) |

Section "8.1.3.3 Edit favorites" on page 30 of the Be-On-Road manual --
http://www.beonroad.com/download/bor3/manual/MANUAL_EN_3.7.pdf
and under the sub-section "Import" gives some advice for importing your own POI's. Not having BOR myself, I'm not sure if this is of any help or not. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

The manual says you can import TSV (tab separated values?) and GPX files. We offer both. See 'McGuider' for the tab-delimitted or Garmin for the GPX files.
p46 of the manual says you can set up alerts for the POIs too.

I got it working using the "other GPX" file. I copied & pasted the file into the "import" folder of the app. I accessed this by connecting my phone in "mass storage" mode & looking for the specified folder in windows explorer as per the instructions. In the same folder I pasted the camera icon as well. I just have to find a way of customising the alerts. Over the next few days, I will test the compatibility of the TSV files as well. The GPX files work great though! Thanks. ![Very Happy](modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

Yay! Glad you got it sorted.
Out of curiosity I have just downloaded the Android version to test it out. Must say that I cant work it, it's very complicated or am I being dim? _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

No, you're not being dim. I've been faffing around with it for a few days. I'm ok with it now. Downloading the maps & voices is the laborious bit. I've downloaded the Open source maps (free) which are very up to date & detailed. I have compared the calculated routes with my Tomtom, I to my surprise they navigate the same routes. Not bad for a free sat-nav app & compatible with the PGPSW speed cam data. |

Perhaps not just now thanks.

So you would say it's worth persevering with. I'd better re-download it then (I had just deleted it) and be a bit more patient with it. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

I can confirm the camera database works fine on the android format as well. Using it on 'be-on-road' using android jellybean. Imports just the same as shown above by pasting the GPX files into the import folder. It is probably a pointless method, as the camalert system is much better running in the background! But it does work without camalert. |
