Hello all,

Just got my Mio168/Copilot Live v4.5 (UK version) two days ago.

I would like to plan a couple to trips (on the Mio) and then save them, so that when the time comes, all I have to do is load 'em up and go.

I've tried many times but without any luck. Can this be done at all?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance to any much needed help.

KS Ang

It can't be done under CoPilot Live 4 but it can be done under CoPilot 5 Live.

The easiest way if to make sure that your departure/destination is programmed as favourites, then you can quickly select the route you want.

Thanks for the quick response Dave.

I've tried it that way BUT .....

As soon as I exited the Copilot program, all the favourites are cleared.

Regards,

Something strange is happening with your CoPilot because when you exit and re-run CoPilot Live 4 and click on the red heart (favourite) icon, you should have all your favourites stored there.

If you have CoPilot installed to storage card, make sure you haven't got a write protect switch enabled to stop writing to the SD card.

You may be on to something there. But I think it may be the card instead of the Copilot software. When connect to my PC, I tried to transfer an mp3 file to the card, (while it's still in the pocket pc) an error message appeared saying something like it's being write protected. But when I took the card out and flicked the switch to the other position, put it in, the same thing still happens. :x

This card came with Copilot 4 pre-installed and it's got an ALK lable on.
Could it be a faulty SD card? Or is it somehow been "fixed" to a read-only card. (A shame as there are still >20MB of free space)

I would contact ALK, it may have been write protected to stop writing and maybe config files are written to main menu, I'm not too sure. ALK should be able to clear this up.

Thanks Dave. Have just emailed lowerstonweb.com as well as ALK about this. I'm just waiting for a reply. Confused

Have also ordered an SD card from Ebuyer to try out and see if it's the card or the pocket pc itself. (Sure hope it's the card at fault!) Smile

frame3003,

did you get a reply from ALK re the SD card. I was thinking of ordering MIO168 with 256Mb SD card and it seems pointless if it has been write-protected.

Cheers

John

Hi John,

No. Still no reply from ALK. I've given up on them now.

I've since bought a 256MB SD card and installed CP4 onto this. It now works perfectly. It does seem like it's the supplied 128MB SD card that was write protected. With the bigger capacity card, at least I can now store mp3s and games as well. :O) (Hell. Should have gone for the 512MB one!)

The supplied SD card is now tucked away in it's container with the Mio168's box.

Just got my free copy of CP5 today. Installed it but found it to be not as accurate as CP4. So have re-installed CP4.

Hope that was of some help.

Lowestonetheweb came back and said that they only supply on 128Mb
Surprised you went back to CP4. CP5 includes the POI database amongst other things so I would have thought you would have persevered with the latest version.

Hi John,

As far as I can tell, CP4 also have Points Of Interests. It's just that when I had CP5 installed, I planned the exact trip as I did with CP4 before, but the new version took me on a detour before taking me my destination. Where as CP4 just took me straight to it. I may re-install CP5 in the future and give it go again. At least now I have a choice.

Regards,
KS
