It really depends upon what device you aim to pair it with and the type of car you are using it in, for example if the car has an athermic windscreen a BT GPS in the rear window has a better chance than a phone mounted in the front.

Most modern phones won't see much of an improvement if used in normal cars that are supplied without coated windscreens - Mike

As you know I've a HTC Desire and I've tried a BT receiver but there's no improvement over screen mounting the Desire.
The main problem was I couldn't use my BT repeater for directions/ calls etc at the same time.

I am using a BT gps aerial with my HTC Wildfire and the improvement is dramatic.
The first fix is much quicker and exiting from a tunnel it re-aquires in less than 10 seconds.
20 quid on ebay and its solar too. no power cable needed on short journeys.
regards, Frank.

May be it is too late to write it down. Anybody has problem getting enough GPS satellite reception to get accurate positioning, can buy Qstarz 818x or XT Bluetooth gps. It will give you 8-9 satellite reception even in Scottish canyon.http://www.amazon.co.uk/Qstarz-BT-Q818x-Bluetooth-Sat-Receiver/dp/B002LJS8SE/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1352491568&sr=1-4
