I have just acquired a new notebook, and neede to reinstall Mapsource onto it. As it does not have a DVD drive I have copied it off the original disc onto th hard drive of the notebook.
I have looked in the relevant folder but do not know which file is the corret one, or what process involves.
Can anyone help please?

Mapsource is no longer supported by Garmin and will not work fully with the latest Garmin GPS. You'd be better off downloading Basecamp, available from:

http://www.garmin.com/uk/maps/trip-planning-software/basecamp/

However Mapsource is still available for download:

http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=209

Note you MUST download Basecamp first, or the Mapsource download will not work.

I downloaded Basecamp but it does not go to street level. What do I do to correct this?

Basecamp reads the maps directly off your GPS, so you need to connect that to your PC. You can also copy the files from your GPS onto a memory stick and use that instead.

Alternatively you can use http://www.javawa.nl/gmtk_en.html to move your maps from one PC to another. That way they'll be visible in Basecamp and Mapsource directly from your PC should you prefer.
