Not sure which is the correct forum to post this question so I have posted it to both the Leadtek and TomTom forums.

PDA = Toshiba E800 Wi-Fi
GPS = Leadtek 9532 + cable
S/w = TomTom 3.03

I have just purchased a Leadtek 9532 GPS Module from ebay and I am attempting to get it to work with TomTom 3.03. I had no problems with my Holux CF270 so I know the PDA and software work correctly.

I have purchased the necessary connector to connect the 9532 to the e800 and cigarette lighter. However, I cannot get the PDA to recognise the GPS module using either TomTom's GPS app or the leadtek navigator program.

I have set leadtek navigator to NMEA 4600 and tried all com ports, nothing is detected.

Within the tomtom gps, I have tried setting it to TomTom hardware (as I believe the tomtom gps module is a rebadged Leadtek 9531). Also tried NMEA 4600 and Sirf 4600. Nothing happens :-(

When I first plug the power in, the gps module flashes red then goes green and flashes repeatedly.

Any ideas of what I can try, or does it sound like I have bought a duff GPS mouse?

Any help is appreciated!

Try uninstalling the TomTOm ~ GPS in Remove Programs, soft reset and try the ports again. You may find that you'll be able to see it now. Usually COM1 is the sync port, but on the Toshiba it's something weird like COM 3 or something.

Dave,

Thanks for your reply, I will give it a go!

DO I need to install and then reinstall?

Or do I uninstall ~tomtom gps then try the leadtek navigator program and see if the mouse is recongised then reinstall tomtom ~gps?

Thanks for your help :-)

Ok I tried that and still get nothing, i have perfomed a full hardware reset and installed only installed WinCEMonitor.

The only ports I have available are

Serial Com1
Irda Com2
USB Com9
IrComm Com3

I have tried them all using NMEA @ 4800 and get no information on the development screen. I have also tried SIRF @ 9600 and nothing happens.

The cable led is on and the PDA and GPS mouse is lit up, the led on the gps mouse is flashing green whilst I'm outdoors and red when in the garage (which I assume means its working correctly).

Any ideas as to what I can attempt next?

You may have inadvertently set it to SiRF, so try connecting on COM 1 NMEA 4800, you probably won't see any data in development view, but go into COMMAND and NMEA, select 4800 and OK.

Now goto View, Development and see if you see anything there. If not, try it again, if still nothing, disconnect and reconnect. If still nothing, then re-connect under same settings and perform a factory reset and see then if you get any data back.

Dave,

Tried your suggestions, still nothing.

I have contacted routeplanners and they have agreed to swap the cable in case its faulty. I have also purchased a serial lead to hook it up to my laptop. I'll hopefully be able to determine what the cause of the problem is.

The problem was due to a faulty cable, my replacement works correctly using COM 4. The GPS locked on to the sats within a couple of mins.

Thanks for all your suggestions

For anyone else reading this thread with connection problems, I've just had similar difficulty getting my trusty Leadtek 9532 to connect to Tom Tom Navigator 3 on my XDA2.....

It turns out that you have to disable the infra-red port (within the Power management setting) to allow the Com1 serial port to work.....
