Today Telmap crashed again. This is particulary annoying, because, until the application is terminated, the whole device hangs, and, it takes 10 minutes until it is usable again.

Message on the Screen:
Uncaught exception: Application ResNavigatorEU(306) is not responding; process terminated.

This happend, when I arrived at the destination of the trip. My BB locks itself after some time, and, when I took it out of the pocket, and, after entering my password the device stopped accepting input.
I think, this is rather likely to happen, if GPS reception or Network reception is bad.

I made a copy of the logfile of the system.
here a some lines from it. If someone thinks more lines would be helpful, I can post more of the log.

Hi,
This looks like something specific to your device.
I suggest you delete your current installation and reinstall.
tks

Tugadmin,
These crashes occured on this 9700 with all versions of telmap and all OS versions I ever had (including V5) of the Blackberry OS.
All other applications I am using do not behave like this.

Telmap also still has problems when it is running in the background. Dont know, how other people use their BB, but mine locks after a minute, and I have to enter my password.
Sometimes, the BB + Telmap behaves like i expect: Screen goes black, but if the navigation becomes active screen lights and the spoken navigation work.
But other times, the screen stays on even if it should turn dark.
In other cases, the scren turns dark, but navigation stops speaking, until I manually unlock the BB.
I think it works more reliable if I disable the security password before using telmap, however I am not sure about this.

Also, if I manually put telmap in the background (telmap searches location, but I have to take a call or lookup an address), similar things happen.

I dont use telmap that often so I cannot give your a solid statistic, but my guess is that in 3 of 10 trips I use telmap those hangs happen.

I cannot understand the device log very good, the only thing I can read of it is, that the OS requests telmap to the foreground, but that does not happen, and finally the Application is killed.

Why do you think this is specific to my device ? I have a 9700 + OS6. This might be not supported, but if its not only because it is not supported, I see no reason this is specific to my device.

Hi nobody911,
The reason I think it's related to your device is that we had hundreds of users on BB 9700 for whom it worked fine.
Having said that - we never certified our BB 9700 version using OS6 - so actually that could be it. We only tested OS6 on BB 9780 and later devices.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help here.
Tks

hmh,
how many of your users are on a BES server with a policy which enforces a security password for the device ?

Hi nobody911
While I can't know how many of our users are on a BES server with a policy that enforces a security password - I can definitely tell you that you're not the first.
In fact we've had several support requests from users who did not actually understand what was happening when their device kept locking down.
As you probably understand, we have no control over your BES server's security policies - that's something you would have to take up with your IT department. However - in previous cases, this lock down did not cause a crash.
Again, I'm sorry I can't be more helpful. As I said, we did not test Telmap on a BB 9700 running OS6. That might be the reason - or not - I don't know.
Tks

Mine often hangs if i leave it in background while running and need to check something else on my phone. This was true on my 9700 when using both OS5 and now OS6.

It was much worse before i installed OS6 / new versions of Telmap (would happen everytime before and would have to perform a battery pull), now it's rare if at all, but there is still a pause before my phone starts to behave itself.
