transffering favourites from old ONE to new XL

Can anyone tell me how to transfer my favourites from my broken TomTom ONE to my new TomTom XL2.......I cant startup the old ONE as its broken, but i do have the memory card.....But i cant seem to find my favourites on it ?......I also have voices that I need to transfer over....any help would be most appreciated!!!!

Favourites on that model are stored in a file called MapSettings.cfg in the named map folder ("Western Europe", UK and Ireland" or whatever yours is called).

Although the new TomTom will also have a MapSettings.cfg file they will be slightly different and it may not work to copy it straight across. But you could try it

The best solution would be to download a program called POIEdit.
This will let you open the MapSettings.cfg file and pick the favourites out of all the other addresses there (your Home and recent destinations).

You can then save them as a POI file (with an .ov2 extension). These POI files are much more portable and can be moved between any two TomToms. Put it in the named map folder in the new TomTom. (If you name it "_Favourites" with an underscore at the front it wil alway appear at the top of the alphabetical list of POI categories, so be easier to find).

You can then either leave it as a POI file, or (one by one) use the 'Add Favourite' menu to re-save each one into Favourites on the new XL.


The voices are stored in separate folders in the "voices" folder, you should be able to just copy those from the old machine to the voices folder of the new one.
