Yes, but only the built in sound warnings on your unit, no .ogg files (if you have them). _________________ David |

What did Andy_P say:

And before anyone asks, No you cannot add the .ogg voice files.
(hopefully I can add "yet" ot that sentence, but no firm news so far on that)
So the only ways to get voice warnings is to either
1. type them in manually for the TTS voice to read out.
or 2. rename the speed camera files to something suitable and set the TTS voice to read out the filename. |
Do pay attention - Only joking |

Somebody with a network monitor and too much time on their hands should be able to listen to the traffic between the PC and the TomTom, and figure out how to bulk load the POI files. Just saying... _________________ Lutz

Well I got a little excited. When I switched my unit on whilst connect to the PC it announced that there maybe a new map available to download!.
...but in reality nothing, no even the update that this thread talks about allowing POIs.
Oh well. |

I had that a couple of weeks ago!! I connected it and NOPE nothing, it was all up to date! I'm wondering if I can still get a new map for free, as it says if there is one available within 90 days of purchase, well it did, within 90 days but unable to download! |

"just saying" or "just offering"
it depends if the web-app does anything special to the files once they are installed? if it's simply a case of transferring and then the device software simply detecting the files are there then that may work. if the process of uploading them using MyTomTom does something special (eg creates a database file of some sort as a register, so to speak) then it might not?

Just tried for interest to upload a POI group which contained about 200 campsites in Europe. Dead easy/quick. And as Andy said, despite the warning about the size of the icon my 22 x 22 files uploaded without problem. Have set an audible warning for the group. So far good. Now to try PGPSW speed/safety warnings. _________________ Gee-Pee

Do we know if there is an upper limit of the number of POI items in each group that the 1000 can handle?
My POI group for sites I visit has probably got 13-15000 entries in it. Works fine with my 540 but am now thinking of updating to the 1000

1. What's the application number on your device?
2. What version number is on TT Home pop-up?
3. Have you cleared the cache in TT Home? _________________ Gee-Pee

I've seen no indication anywhere that the limit for a poi category for a 1x model is any less (or more) than with previous models. _________________ David |

Gee-Pee, app number is 10.022.574650.29 (0) (3012, 13/9/2010)
Version number tomtom home is (3.0.1.207)
I did clear cache at weekend, I'll clear it again now.
Just cleared cache closed program and switched off and on again and still nothing, no updates ready.
Do those numbers look right? |
