|
|
Hi. I recently brought a new tomtom xl live and i installed version 9.054. on my XL live and found it slow updating routes, key presses etc. After reading about the same problems by others i decided to go back to version 8.419. and found it alot quicker and more responsive than version 9. Has anybody else on this site found the same problem? I hope Tomtom sort this out because I like version 9.
I found this video on youtube about this problem.

Yes, most models that originally ran on v8 seem quite slow when running v9 |

Uninstall the TomTom Safety alerts and Fuel Prices using HOME - it is the LIVE tab on the route planning screen that causes the issue - whenever you plan a route it is trying to calculate how many speed cams are on route and where the cheapest fuel is.
Try planning a route from Lands End to John O Groats with the cams and fuel installed, then do it again after you have removed them and there is a huge difference in route calculation time.
Basically, the 266Mhz processor in an XL LIVE is just not up to Nav9 and all of the LIVE Services. The 400Mhz processor devices seem to cope a lot better. |

They're NOT installed on my TT XL IQ ROUTES - and it's still as slow as hell...
Just driven back home from a Meeting (25 minutes drive) and my TT took nearly the WHOLE ROUTE to finish sorting itself out and working out a route! _________________ XL LIVE IQ Routes (Europe)

Something wrong with it then as mine runs Nav9 fine.
Do a full explorer backup of the device, do a full format as FAT32 of the TT and then copy your backup back. Don't copy the contents of the ephem folder back to the device.
Try running clearflash a few times as well.
How many POIs have you installed and how many are enabled for warnings and how many are visible on the map?
What colour scheme are you running - I have found that for some odd reason some schemes make the device run slower????? |

Am backing device up as I type.
Already run the ClearFlash tool 5 times on device
37 POI's on Map - most of them PGPS Speed camera's - and all visible.
I think it's the UK_OS Colour scheme I'm running....
My TT has just suddenly slown down a hell of a lot in the past week.!!
Will report back when backed up, formatted and copied back!!
Might it have something to do with EVERY time I hook my TT up to my computer (using Windows 7) I get a Disk Error Fault.. Even though I correctly (or Safely Remove) my TT every time I do connect it.. _________________ XL LIVE IQ Routes (Europe)

Right - it's finally formatted and all the stuff back on.
Have run 5 ClearFlashes on it, and everytime it re-boots with a Disc Error - but the TT seems to boot up ok, I have CANCELLED the error.
It seems to calculate routes quicker, but when it draws the map of the route chosen it STILL takes ages.
Will take it on a run out on Saturday to Football in Market Drayton and see how it goes!!
Am I correct in the fact that the Map Corrections service is NOT working at the minute?? _________________ XL LIVE IQ Routes (Europe)

Right...
Seems to route ok..
The PocketGPS camera POI's work ok - although some warned of cameras on roads 3/4 mile away on another road that I wasn't going down!!
Other PocketGPS POI's, like Subway or Railway Stations were also going off miles out of sync...! _________________ XL LIVE IQ Routes (Europe)

It's definately NOT right - it's now telling me that a friend's road is now called BOTH Oxclose & Hanover Court!! - should just be Oxclose!
Think I should just format it and just let TT Home re-install all of the stuff??
If so - what's the best way to do it? _________________ XL LIVE IQ Routes (Europe)
