Bo Peep

In case you didn't get my email because Blueyonder said they lost a load of mails due to some problem, thanks again for sending the French Database. I look forward to trying it out in 2 weeks time.

Regards

Stu

Hi Stu,

Yes I did get your email - thanks for that. I hope the database works OK and is useful on your trip to France.

Be sure to post here when you get back and tell us how it worked out and whether it's worth downloading! Thumbs Up

Amusez-bien! (Have a nice time!) Mr. Green

Regards,

Bo Peep.

Thanks for drawing my attention to this.

I've registered and downloaded the standard version and I'm off to France on Friday on my bike. Might save me a few Euros.

:D

Hi Everyone,
I'm back from France and only did the journey from Caen to Le Mans and back. The french don't have a lot of speed cameras at all and the ones I noticed (all 2 of them) were displayed on my PDA. For a simple download and installation it has to be a worthy addition. I'm off driving down near to Geneva next month so will put it to the test again and post the results.

The main threat comes from mobile units who have used speed guns for ages in France.

They are very good at hiding behind bridges even if not authorised or hiding cameras in rubbish bins.

Law did change for foreigners, especially if British. As you are from the EU, 'POLICE' (cities) or 'GENDARMERIE' (major roads, motorways) could transfer your case back to the UK...

Time where you could pay in cash to avoid these points on your license is finished...

Hi everyone, I've just returned from France with over 2000 Miles done there. The overlay seemed to work fine but as Frenchie said above, the vast majority of locations must be for mobile ones. There were hardly any fixed cameras. The locations listed pointed to bridges or lay-bys. Still worth having though as its free. Carrefour overlay was handy too. I would also recommend still taking the map as a back up as I had a few problems and because I didn't know what road was what (hard to find in heavy traffic), I had to get my friend to navigate with the atlas. TomTom tried 3 times in different routes to try and put me back down a closed slip road although if I had got the right side of the peage in the first place, the problem would'nt have arose. Also in the alps,on the only road for miles, it kept trying to turn me round when the road behind was blocked. I then just used the atlas until I could switch it back on and it would find a different route. I know part of these problems are due to my inadequacey (is that spelt correctly) in using it, but on a narrow road at 8000 feet with a couple of thousand foot drop on one side with no barriers, I'm in no mood to take my hands of the wheel. Overall though excellent and I would have been in loads of trouble without it.
