|
|
Hi all and thanks for reading.
I recently bought a TomTom XL Classic for my Dad's Birthday and had a few issues with the map files. After lots of backwards and forwards TomTom have allowed me to install new maps and it's all working at last.
The only problem my Dad has mentioned is that when he trys to navigate to a Postcode, it only shows the first 4 letters of the Postcode and no street names. Surely this model should do full Postcode search and show the list of street names? I have a TomTom 540 XL Live and that does exactly what you'd expect. Does my Dad's XL Classic have files missing or is this just normal for this model?
Any help, advice or suggestions is greatly welcomed.
Regards,
Martin |

Go here and click on the link for the V835 postal codes. Download them and install using WinRar into a folder called zip on your unit.
May help. _________________ David |

Try This File. It's an 840 version Postcode file.

Thanks for these files. Before I copy one or other of them, are they standard for all models and maps? I am reluctant now as I've already messed up thinking I could use any map file and have only just got the thing working.
Just confirm this and then I will go for broke :-)
Also if any file works then would the ZIP directory from my TomTom 540 be okay too?

Any uk postcode file will work, but you are advised to use the latest version of v840 as linked above.
A simple copy and paste will do, and overwrite the old files.
Read the thread that Oldboy refers to. I have some information there that is useful!
