Just purchased the in app traffic addon for the European version.
£14.99 seems a bit steep but I'll be testing it tonight for value for money.
Also the postcode addon was £1.19 the same I think as the single region version.
Can someone with the uk version please confirm the price of the two addons to compare and if it is now available? _________________ Dom

Postcodes are there for the same price, no mention of traffic yet. |

Didn't say I'm afraid. In the middle of firmware upgrade so I will check again when I'm up and running! Might display once purchased? _________________ Dom

Strange that it doesn't tell you the expiration when you buy, which perhaps suggests it's "lifetime". Cost is relative, and will depend on how good the data is. |

Checked again and defiantly doesn't mention it.

I too assume lifetime subscription, but the system is interesting as it will obviously be uploading my data as I go to improve the reporting. Not sure I approve of this but if it works why not? _________________ Dom

pretty certain the traffic is for life - it's an in-app purchase so the same as a standard itunes purchase - i.e. for life and can be used on up to 5 devices linked to your itunes account.

I can certainly confirm that as I had to re-purchase the two extras while re-installing the iphone firmware and got the usual 'you have already purchased this item' message. But no mention of subscription on my account so I'm fixing to keep it for life! I hope. _________________ Dom

I'm not sure as I backed up this morning but purchased the extras after. But the app didn't recognize me after I re-installed Navigon so had to re-purchase. No reason why it shouldn't back up though! _________________ Dom

FAIL!
[rant on]So I turned on my 3g, run up the Navigon app and nothing! Nothing for 5 min, nothing for 10 min, and half hour later I turned it off. Tmc anyone!!![rant off]
All appears to be working as I now have a Traffic menu option in 'more' options, and from the navigation screen below the 'Route' section I now have two new options titled 'Traffic'. (Consider Traffic Information), (Send Floating Car Data). However when you are in the Traffic menu under 'more' it simply displays that it is offline and a message saying 'No traffic messages are present'.
I've checked my 3g internet connection and I'm sure all the settings are correct as there aren't many, so my conclusion is their server is not working yet. (boo) When you hit the offline bar a further message appears telling you what might be wrong, top line 'The server is unavailable'.
I think I'll be sending a support email asking if this is the case, but my fear is that Live Traffic activation on the Euro app might have been a mistake by one of their staff, hence why it is not yet available on the uk app, or only some of the european countries have the traffic up and running so far but not the uk. We'll see what they say! _________________ Dom

+1 for this, as my unit is exactly the same, postcode support is neat, although I don't like having to enter a space between the two parts - Lets see if they get the Traffic working soon as this is a real first for an iPhone Navigation application - Mike |

I really was quite keen to see it up and running mainly to compare it with my Navigon 7 tmc. _________________ Dom

As an update both my iPhones are now working with Traffic, try connecting the handset to the PC and then fire up Navigon, the activation only seems to work when connected direct to the PC, over 3G/ GPRS/ Edge if failed every time - Mike |
