|
|
Hi, I have moved to a new XP-pro computer but cannot link to my Mio A201. I have the original disk but it will not see the device. Does anybody know where I can find drivers. After failing to install the drivers once XP now refuses to even look at the device. I have looked on the MIO site but they do not have it there. I know it is an old device but we have two of them and apart from the initial problems have been very reliable.
Hope someone can help as all sorts of Google searches turn up nothing but advertising and suspect sites.

Thanks Mike, I did install the latest Active Sync but as the computer has failed to install the device once it no longer comes up when pluged in. So Active Sync cannot see it. I perhaps need to find a way to tell the computer that it has not seen this device before but I do not know how.

Start Menu - Settings - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Device Manager
(I'm sure there used to be a quicker way to get to Device Manager!)
Hopefully, the Mio will be listed somewhere there. Right click and "Delete".
Maybe! |

To remove a device in ActiveSync 4.2.0 select File, delete mobile device. |

Hi,
Thanks again to Mike and to nivek22 & Andy_P, sorry not to come back before I have been away from the computer for a couple of days.
I tried those things but as soon as I connect the PDA it pops up in Device Manager under Network Adapters. pressing Del brings up a warning but clicking yes brings up another warning saying it failed to uninstall the device.
It seems that the computer remembers it cant talk to this device so refuses to have anything to do with it. Active Sync of course can't see it at all because the computer knows that it failed to install it! I am at a complete loss.
Any other suggestions greatfully received.

Seeing the PDA under network devices is correct, don't try to delete it.
Have you tried the troubleshooter under help in Activesync? |
